Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal have reportedly sent an \u201cofficial offer\u201d to Liverpool to sign striker Darwin Nunez<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Uruguayan may have enjoyed a fruitful pre-season, scoring four goals, but he has been expected to leave Anfield all summer.<\/p>\n

Nunez has been linked with various clubs, including Serie A champions Napoli, but ties to Saudi have been consistent. It was previously reported<\/a>, though, that the player is \u201cthough to favour staying in Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to local journalist Hamad Al-Suwailihi on\u00a0X, from Saudi outlet\u00a0Al-Riyadiya<\/a>,\u00a0who have readily followed the pursuit of Nunez, Al-Hilal have \u201csent an official offer\u201d to Liverpool for the services of the 26-year-old.<\/p>\n

He is described as the \u201ctop choice\u201d for new coach Simone Inzaghi, who left Inter Milan earlier this year after guiding them to the Champions League<\/a> final.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, on X<\/a>, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that talks between Al-Hilal and Nunez\u2019s representatives are \u201congoing,\u201d with Liverpool still \u201copen\u201d to selling him before the new seasons gets underway.<\/p>\n

In a newer update<\/a>, Romano also states that the Saudi Pro League side have \u201cpresented their project\u201d to the Reds\u2019 No. 9, adding that the \u201cfinancial details of the deal\u201d now need to be agreed.<\/p>\n

Still the right time for Nunez to leave Liverpool?<\/p>\n

The tragic passing of Diogo Jota<\/a> last month has understandably affected Liverpool\u2019s attacking depth this summer.<\/p>\n

With Luis Diaz<\/a> heading to Bayern Munich<\/a>, and Federico Chiesa<\/a> also expected to leave, there is an argument to say that the Reds\u2019 attacking options are changing too much if Nunez exits as well.<\/p>\n

That said, Hugo Ekitike<\/a> has arrived and Florian Wirtz<\/a> can shine on the left flank, if needed, and Liverpool continue to pursue Newcastle<\/a> striker Alexander Isak.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Ultimately, after three up-and-down years at Anfield, this still feels like the right time for the Reds to sell Nunez.<\/p>\n

It will allow Liverpool to receive a healthy fee for him, trying to earn as much of the \u00a385 million back that they paid Benfica in 2022.<\/p>\n

Nunez hasn\u2019t done enough in his three years with the Reds to justify staying, both under Jurgen Klopp<\/a> and Arne Slot<\/a>.<\/p>\n
