Our farmers, our small industries, employment for our youth&#8230; their welfare is our top priority. This will be a great tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.\u201dPM Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 52 development projects worth over Rs 2,180 crore, transferred Rs 20,500 crore to farmers under PM-Kisan, and launched initiatives in healthcare, education, tourism, infrastructure and rural development.<\/p>\n<p>Trade standoff continues<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s remarks came a day after the White House confirmed sweeping new trade measures affecting 70 countries, including India. \u201cIndia will therefore be paying a tariff of 25 per cent, plus a penalty for the above,\u201d Trump said, criticising India\u2019s high tariffs and its \u201cvast\u201d military and energy ties with Russia.\u201cI don\u2019t care what India does with Russia. They can take their dead economies down together, for all I care,\u201d he added in a post on Truth Social.In response, ministry of external affairs (MEA) defended its position, stressing that the country\u2019s energy policy is driven by national interest.
