Journalists also discovered that her profile at Guatemala\u2019s Francisco Marroqu\u00edn University, where N\u00b4\u00fa\u00f1ez taught a Political Science course, falsely claimed that she also held a degree in English Philology.<\/p>\n<p>News of the politician\u2019s fake CV credentials came at an awkward moment for the PP. Since last May, when Spanish Prime Minister Pedro S\u00e1nchez was forced to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/spain-pm-pedro-sanchez-apologize-corruption-socialist-party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">publicly apologize for the corruption<\/a> within his Socialist Party, the leading center-right political force has pitched itself as a \u201cclean\u201d group that Spaniards can trust.<\/p>\n<p>After meeting with opposition leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/alberto-nunez-feijoo-peoples-party-pedro-sanchez-spain-snap-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alberto N\u00fa\u00f1ez Feij\u00f3o<\/a>, N\u00fa\u00f1ez announced her <a href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/espana\/2025-07-23\/la-diputada-del-pp-noelia-nunez-dimite-de-todos-sus-cargos-tras-la-polemica-de-su-curriculum.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resignation<\/a>. Shortly thereafter, her party ordered its officials to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/espana\/2025\/07\/25\/68827728e9cf4a4b4a8b4592.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">review their CVs<\/a> to make sure no other falsehoods would be uncovered.<\/p>\n<p>Dummy degrees<\/p>\n<p>But less than a week later, another set of fake credentials was uncovered. This time, however, they belonged to Socialist Party official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eldiario.es\/comunitat-valenciana\/comisionado-gobierno-dana-dimite-cargos-caceria-investigacion-falso-titulo_1_12504819.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda \u00c1ngel Batalla<\/a>, whom the national government had tasked with overseeing reconstruction efforts following last year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/spain-floods-valencia-europe-climate-change-preparation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deadly floods in Valencia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Batalla claimed to hold a degree in Archival Science and Library Science from the University of Valencia issued in 1983 \u2014 a remarkable feat given the university in question did not teach that subject until 1990. <\/p>\n<p>The discovery of the falsehood has not only prompted the official\u2019s resignation, but it could potentially land him in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eldiario.es\/comunitat-valenciana\/anticorrupcion-investiga-si-comisionado-gobierno-dana-falsifico-titulo-convertirse-funcionario_1_12498964.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">serious legal trouble<\/a>.
