The family dynamics in the British royal family seem to be the best they have been in a while, or at least moving in that direction. King Charles<\/a> is still sick, but his cancer has been deemed manageable. He is on the road to reconciling with his youngest son, Prince Harry<\/a>. The marriages between Prince William and Kate Middleton<\/a> and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle<\/a> are solid. So, of course, something had to happen to throw a wrench into all the good vibes.<\/p>\n

King Charles is reportedly not happy over Prince William and Kate Middleton\u2019s plans to move. The couple has reportedly decided to relocate from Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Castle estate to Fort Belvedere in Windsor Great Park.<\/p>\n

But though the King\u2019s relationship with his son Harry was clearly affected by his and Meghan Markle\u2019s move to California in 2019, his objections in this case appear to be mostly financial. Rob Shuter\u2019s\u00a0#ShuterScoop<\/a>\u00a0claims that the king is \u201cfuming\u201d over how much the move would cost, particularly considering Prince William and Kate Middleton only moved to Adelaide Cottage in 2022. The new home will reportedly \u201ctake millions to renovate,\u201d and \u201cCharles sees it as an unnecessary extravagance.\u201d<\/p>\n

The King has been trying to cut down the budget that the entire family operates with. However, Prince William and Kate Middleton are looking to move due to a renewed focus on \u201cprivacy\u201d on top of a need for more \u201cspace.\u201d Prince George\u2019s future is also said to be a consideration for the move\u2014in a very particular way.<\/p>\n

An insider told #ShuterScoop that William and Kate have \u201coutgrown Adelaide Cottage,\u201d as their kids get older, with Fort Belvedere considered the most suitable place for their family at this stage. According to the source, it has \u201chistory, land, and proximity to Eton.\u201d The last one suggests Prince George will end up attending Eton, which isn\u2019t actually surprising, all things considered.<\/p>\n

Fort Belvedere is described by The Daily Mail<\/a>\u00a0as a \u201cmagnificent Gothic revival mansion\u201d that is \u201cnestled in a hidden corner of Windsor Great Park\u201d and sits on 59 acres. The 18th-century home has a tennis court, a private outdoor swimming pool, a rose garden, a greenhouse, private stables, multiple lakes, and three cottages for the staff. The estate was previously inhabited by William\u2019s ancestor Edward VIII, who ironically occupied it after he abdicated the throne to marry Wallis Simpson.<\/p>\n

However, that outlet also reports that \u201cno move is imminent.\u201d Other recent rumors also indicated the couple was looking at the Royal Lodge, aka the mansion where Prince Andrew lives with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. That would presumably be easier and cheaper to remodel for the family. However, it\u2019s said \u201cAndrew resisted pressure from King [Charles] to leave.\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple reportedly even considered moving into a wing of Windsor Castle, but the area is \u201cunderstood to no longer be viable.\u201d<\/p>\n

All of this comes as recent reports indicate King Charles is eager to reconcile with his son, despite the issues caused by time and distance. Pauline Maclaran, co-author of\u00a0Royal Fever, said Charles wants to be part of Prince\u00a0Harry<\/a>\u2019s life. \u201cAs a father and quite an emotional man, he is likely to want some sort of reconciliation with his son.\u201d<\/p>\n

Where everyone will be living if and when that happens is anybody\u2019s guess.<\/p>\n
