Kalvin Phillips will be a \u201cgreat\u201d signing for Leeds United next season as Man City lower his asking price.<\/strong><\/p>\n Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider\u2019s Inside Track podcast<\/strong><\/a>, former Leeds and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson urged Leeds to push the button on a \u201chomecoming\u201d for Phillips at Elland Road.<\/p>\n Phillips<\/a>\u2018 career has been in a tailspin since he left Leeds for Man City<\/a> in 2022 for \u00a345million, and he was deemed surplus to requirements after spending most of their treble-winning season on the bench.<\/p>\n Leeds have been linked with bringing Phillips back to Elland Road for some time<\/a> and those links have gone up a notch since they won promotion back to the Premier League, despite their recruitment model.<\/p>\n The 29-year-old is currently recovering from an Achilles injury which could delay his exit from Man City<\/a>, but Robinson told Football Insider <\/strong>that Leeds should still pursue a transfer for Phillips late in the window.<\/p>\n Robinson told Football Insider <\/strong>that Leeds<\/a>\u2018 recruitment model is currently based on data and statistics which could put paid to Phillips\u2019 chances of a move, but he\u2019s keen to see the midfielder return \u201chome\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES<\/p>\n Phillips homecoming can be agreed for \u2018decent\u2019 Leeds fee<\/strong><\/p>\n This article contains exclusive comment from Paul Robinson, a football pundit and former England, Tottenham and Leeds goalkeeper.<\/p>\n Leeds have been urged by many a pundit to re-sign Phillips this summer<\/a> despite several additions in central midfield this summer, and the door could be held open for the last month of the transfer window.<\/p>\n Speaking on the latest Inside Track<\/a><\/strong>, Robinson argued that Phillips would still be a good fit for the Whites regardless of his lack of football in recent seasons, and tipped his former club to agree a cut-price deal.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d love for it to happen\u201d, Robinson told Football Insider.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cSince he left Leeds in 2022 for around \u00a345million, the time at Manchester City hasn\u2019t worked for him.<\/p>\n \u201cFor him and for Leeds, it just seems a good fit \u2013 there\u2019s a player there, [and] it\u2019s time for him to kickstart his career again away from Manchester City.<\/p>\n \u201cIt looks like he\u2019s going to be leaving and I\u2019d love to see a deal at Leeds be done, but the problem that we\u2019ve got with Leeds is their recruitment.<\/p>\n \u201cLeeds do a lot of their recruitment on numbers, stats and figures from the last three or four seasons, and if they are going to stick with that, there\u2019s no chance they\u2019re signing Kalvin Phillips.<\/p>\n \u201cI think they should do it, I really do. I think it would be a great homecoming for him.
