The cruel moniker was due to the length of time she dated William before he proposed.

William and Kate Middleton started dating in 2002 after meeting at St. Andrews University. One year later, they moved in together and shared an apartment.

The couple broke up for a brief period in 2007. In October 2010, William proposed. In April 2011, the future King and Queen were married in a fairy-tale wedding in Westminster Abbey.

Kate’s spirits were dashed when, in 2009, all her friends were getting hitched while she and William were barely seeing each other at the time.

William had joined the Royal Air Force and had to endure a grueling 18 months of training, which meant less time to spend with his significant other, Kate.

Kate needed something else to focus on, and she was excited when a vacancy opened up at Harrods, which was owned by Mohamad Al Fayed, who was the father of Dodie Al Fayed.

Dodie was the man who had been romantically linked to Princess Diana. Both Dodi and Diana tragically died in a car crash in Paris in late August 1997.

Al Fayed had an opening for a buyer’s assistant in the fashion area. It was Kate’s dream job as she adores fashion and wanted to pursue this new opportunity.

Kate Waited Eight Years Before William Finally Proposed

The royal author, Katie Nicholl, wrote,

“The Knightsbridge store is owned by Mohamad Al Fayed, who has installed a shrine to his son Dodie and Diana in the lower ground floor of the store, and according to sources close to Kate, she was worried the job could turn into a potential PR disaster.”

The late Queen Elizabeth II offered Kate some sage advice. She was concerned about Kate’s lack of a stable job.

Everyone had anticipated that William and Kate would become engaged. However, the Queen had wanted Kate to be settled into a career first.

Kate graduated with a degree in art history. In 2008, Kate was working for her parents’ company, Party Pieces. While the Queen was impressed with Kate’s sparkling personality, she claimed that she had no idea what Kate actually did.

In 2005, William was asked about his girlfriend, Kate. However, the future Prince of Wales responded,

“Look, I’m only 22 for god’s sake. I’m too young to marry at my age.”

He added,

“I don’t want to get married until I’m at least 28 or maybe 30.”

Kate waited a whopping eight years until William finally popped the question in Kenya, in Africa

It can be said that William and Kate’s opting not to rush into marriage was wise. It gave them each time to be totally sure of what they wanted.

William had been carrying his mother’s ring in his backpack for three weeks before sliding it on Kate’s finger. Kate has truly established herself as “Queen Catherine in Waiting” and the best decision William has ever made.

Take a look at Daily Soap Dish for up-and-coming spoilers for your favorite soaps, the royal family, and reality TV.

The post Royal Author Talks Kate Middelton’s Former Cruel Nickname “Waity Katy” And How She Almost Worked For Mohamed Al Fayed appeared first on Daily Soap Dish.

Royal author Katie Nicholl wrote about Kate Middleton, “In The Making Of A Royal Romance,”about Prince William and…

[7708
7709,7714,7713,533,2832,532,2831,7710,519,7711,7712
0":"post-312885","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-royals","8":"tag-british-royal-family","9":"tag-catherine","10":"tag-catherine-middleton","11":"tag-kate-middleton","12":"tag-prince-of-wales","13":"tag-prince-william","14":"tag-princess-of-wales","15":"tag-royal-families","16":"tag-royal-family","17":"tag-uk-royal-family","18":"tag-william
["GET
