West Ham United<\/a> have completed the signing of\u00a0free agent Callum Wilson following his Newcastle United<\/a> exit.<\/p>\n

The Athletic<\/a>\u00a0reported earlier on Saturday that Wilson had\u00a0completed a medical ahead of signing an agreed one-year deal with the east London club, which is heavily incentive-based.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old, who was won nine England caps, left Newcastle at the end of his contract on June 30 after the north east club decided against taking up the option to extend his deal. The parties held talks about a new contract that would have been slightly more incentive-based, but could not reach an agreement.<\/p>\n

Wilson joined Newcastle from Bournemouth \u2014 where he played under Eddie Howe \u2014 in the summer of 2020 and scored 49 goals across in 130 appearances for the club.<\/p>\n

The striker scored a career-best 18 Premier League<\/a> goals in the 2022-23 campaign but his most recent two seasons have been disrupted by injury, and he has largely played a secondary role to top scorer Alexander Isak<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wilson missed Newcastle\u2019s first 15 matches of the season due to a back injury sustained in July. He appeared in four Premier League games before sustaining a hamstring injury in early December that ruled him out for almost two months. The nine-time England<\/a> international finished the season with just one goal \u2014 against Birmingham City<\/a> in the FA Cup<\/a> \u2014 in 22 appearances in all competitions.<\/p>\n

West Ham\u2019s record Premier League goalscorer Michail Antonio<\/a> left the club as a free agent at the end of his contract in June, leaving a vacancy at centre-forward in Graham Potter\u2019s squad.<\/p>\n
