{"id":313804,"date":"2025-08-03T06:10:36","date_gmt":"2025-08-03T06:10:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/313804\/"},"modified":"2025-08-03T06:10:36","modified_gmt":"2025-08-03T06:10:36","slug":"ironman-leeds-in-photos-as-sam-laidlow-takes-the-mens-victory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/313804\/","title":{"rendered":"Ironman Leeds in photos as Sam Laidlow takes the men&#8217;s victory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The 2023 Ironman World Champion Sam Laidlow took the men\u2019s victory in front of a packed crowd at the first Ironman Leeds event, offering plenty of inspiration for anyone thinking of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.220triathlon.com\/training\/triathlon-training-plans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">training for an Ironman<\/a> event.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here are some early photos from the event, which saw athletes take on a 3.8km lake swim in Roundhay Park, a 700-acre park, just three miles away from Leeds City Centre. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"683\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1H5A7080.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-175064\"  \/> Athletes prepare for the Ironman Leeds swim in Roundhay Park. Photo by Nigel Roddis\/Getty Images for IRONMAN<\/p>\n<p>They then embarkarked on a 112-mile (180km) bike course up into the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park. Athletes rode the same paths as the famous 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart route, with approximately 2500m elevation gain. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"683\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1H5A7849.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-175062\"  \/>Athletes compete in the bike section on the already iconic \u2018Wrestlers Hill\u2019 during Ironman Leeds. Photo by Nigel Roddis\/Getty Images for IRONMAN<\/p>\n<p>The win in the pro men\u2019s race was taken by 2023 Ironman World Champion <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.220triathlon.com\/news\/who-is-sam-laidlow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sam Laidlow<\/a><\/strong> (FRA), who finished in 8:10:08. In second was Nathan Guerbeur (FRA) in 08:24:43 with Harry Palmer (GBR) third in 08:28:42.<\/p>\n<p>With no pro women\u2019s field at this race, the first female across the line was GB age-grouper Adele Martin, in a time of 11:01:09.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"776\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/0N6A9456.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"lazyload wp-image-175066\"  \/>Sam Laidlow (C) of France 1st, Nathan Gruerbeur (L) of France 2nd and Harry Palmer of Great Britain 3rd on the podium of Ironman Leeds.
