href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/politics\/33861229\/human-rights-loopholes-echr-review-labour\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Article 8<\/a>, the so-called right to a family life, that has stopped <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/33646045\/foreign-criminals-deported-immigration-crack-squad\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">foreign offenders<\/a> from being kicked out of Britain.<\/p>\n<p>It was revealed earlier this month that a Colombian offender who committed 27 offences to fund a drug and drink habit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/34082080\/fury-punishments-immigration-offenders-deportation\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">avoided deportation<\/a> under the rules.<\/p>\n<p>Cases also include a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/33411280\/drug-dealer-deportation-uk-britain\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jamaican drug dealer<\/a>, jailed for three years and four months, who avoided being sent home as he had three young children and his wife in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Home Secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/who\/yvette-cooper\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yvette Cooper<\/a> is currently looking at the implementation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/topic\/human-rights\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">human rights<\/a> laws and how they are being used to block deportations so that they\u2019re applied by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/34488621\/human-rights-laws-block-deportations-echr-lord-burnett\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the courts<\/a> in a proportionate way.<\/p>\n<p>Tory leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/33565015\/kemi-badenoch-european-convention-human-rights-migrants\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kemi Badenoch<\/a> has said that she is ready to walk away from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/27243227\/european-court-human-rights-become-monster-uk-should-leave\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">European Convention of Human Rights<\/a> if it stops the government acting in the national interest.<\/p>\n<p>The document titled \u2018Reform to Conserve\u2019 from the Henry Jackson Society also calls for judges to publish declarations of interest and transparency concerning their affiliations.<\/p>\n<p>Judges must also give interviews after handing down a ruling to enhance transparency and public scrutiny.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Alan Mendoza, Executive Director of the Henry Jackson Society, last night said: \u201cReform is not simply an option \u2014 it is a necessity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe European Court of Human Rights must return to its founding purpose and respect the primacy of democratic states to govern in the interests of their own citizens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNowhere is this more urgent than in the misuse of Article 8 \u2014 the so-called right to family life \u2014 which has been repeatedly exploited to prevent the deportation of foreign criminals and obstruct legitimate immigration control.<\/p>\n<p>Suella Braverman, Radio 4 Aug 29, European court is &#8216;politicised&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese distortions not only erode public confidence, but also damage the Court\u2019s credibility. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If Strasbourg remains unwilling to adapt, it risks making itself obsolete \u2014 overtaken by both domestic and international
