Pascal Struijk is clearly the main casualty from last season\u2019s starting XI under Daniel Farke.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/leeds-united-star-left-fuming-over-crazy-premier-league-announcement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jaka Bijol will be suspended for the opener against Everton<\/a>, he is widely expected to start with Joe Rodon at centre-back for the entirety of the season. The two have combined during pre-season so far.<\/p>\n<p>In goal, Lucas Perri is expected to replace Illan Meslier and Karl Darlow. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/lucas-perri-injury-timeline-revealed-after-being-ruled-out-of-leeds-united-friendly-vs-villarreal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Perri was missing on Saturday due to an injury that he was carrying when signed<\/a>, but is expected to be fit to play against Milan in Dublin.<\/p>\n<p>Ao Tanaka\u2019s place is also under threat after <a href=\"http:\/\/leedsunited.news\/club\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Leeds<\/a> agreed deals for both Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach. Last term, he started 44 of 46 league games.<\/p>\n<p>That is despite question marks over his form last season. On Saturday, <a href=\"http:\/\/leedsunited.news\/club\/manager\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Farke<\/a> played a 4-3-3, lacking a no.10 and yet, Aaronson started for Leeds on the right flank. The USA star showing fans his versatility.<\/p>\n<p>Aaronson basically got the assist for Joel Piroe\u2019s goal, and<a href=\"http:\/\/leedsunited.news\/club\/manager\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Farke<\/a> was asked about the American in his post-match press conference. He said that given Aaronson returned late, the \u00a325m man put in a shift.<\/p>\n<p>MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot the plan to give him so many minutes, he\u2019s been with us for just one week. Good shift. Involved in the equaliser, more or less the assist, good work with and without the ball. Important for offensive work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brenden Aaronson\u2019s future at Leeds remains a talking point<\/p>\n<p>Having been bought for \u00a325m, having been one of the eight to use Victor Orta\u2019s relegation loan clause and having failed to prove his transfer fee last season, Aaronson\u2019s place in the line-up is not definite.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2228234701-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Brenden Aaronson during Leeds clash v Villarreal.\" class=\"wp-image-104350\" \/>Photo by George Wood\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Leeds are expected to make additions, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/transfers\/beren-cross-names-the-four-signings-he-can-see-leeds-united-making-before-the-deadline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Beren Cross reporting Leeds could still make four signings<\/a> with a no.10 among them. If that is the case, it is difficult to see where Aaronson comes into the side.<\/p>\n<p>Crucially, the United States host next summer\u2019s World Cup and Aaronson will be desperate to show Mauricio Pochettino what he can do. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/brenden-aaronsons-future-takes-a-twist-at-leeds-united-after-promotion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aaronson needs game time, but that might not be at Leeds<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"When there are a raft of new signings, it leaves the current squad looking over their shoulder.
