{"id":314726,"date":"2025-08-03T14:06:14","date_gmt":"2025-08-03T14:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/314726\/"},"modified":"2025-08-03T14:06:14","modified_gmt":"2025-08-03T14:06:14","slug":"france-delivers-bastion-armored-vehicles-to-ukraine-after-years-of-delays-and-trials-united24-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/314726\/","title":{"rendered":"France Delivers Bastion Armored Vehicles to\u00a0Ukraine After Years of\u00a0Delays and Trials \u2014 UNITED24 Media"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>French defense manufacturer Arquus has delivered the first batch of\u00a0ACMAT Bastion armored vehicles to\u00a0Ukraine, following a\u00a0three-year evaluation process by\u00a0the Ukrainian Armed Forces.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0La\u00a0Tribune, the vehicles were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latribune.fr\/entreprises-finance\/industrie\/aeronautique-defense\/armement-pourquoi-la-technologie-francaise-peut-etre-une-aide-cruciale-pour-l-ukraine-1030586.html\" rel=\"external noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">handed<\/a> over after completing a\u00a0full testing cycle, primarily conducted by\u00a0the Ukrainian side. <\/p>\n<p>The decision to\u00a0procure the Bastion was made after extended use of\u00a0several lower-cost vehicle models, which prompted an\u00a0official request to\u00a0Arquus and a\u00a0formal order placement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Ukrainian side selected a\u00a0true entry-level armored vehicle \u2014 the Bastion,\u201d noted Bertrand Boyard, an\u00a0executive involved in\u00a0the program.<\/p>\n<p>Plans to\u00a0deliver 11\u00a0Bastion vehicles to\u00a0Ukraine were first announced in\u00a0April 2023. However, progress was delayed due to\u00a0the absence of\u00a0a\u00a0bilateral intergovernmental agreement between France and Ukraine. <\/p>\n<p>It\u00a0was not until May 2024\u00a0that Arquus CEO Emmanuel Levacher confirmed that production of\u00a0the ordered vehicles had resumed. At\u00a0the time, the company indicated it\u00a0could manufacture up\u00a0to\u00a0100\u00a0additional units upon Ukraine\u2019s request.<\/p>\n<p>    About the Bastion<\/p>\n<p>The ACMAT Bastion is\u00a0a\u00a04\u00d74 armored personnel carrier designed for troop transport, reconnaissance, and command missions in\u00a0high-risk areas. Built on\u00a0the VLRA platform (V\u00e9hicule de\u00a0Liaison de\u00a0Reconnaissance et\u00a0d\u2019Appui), the Bastion is\u00a0known for its ruggedness, simplicity of\u00a0maintenance, and high mobility in\u00a0diverse terrains.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/storage.united24media.com\/thumbs\/x\/c\/9b\/e3029beb5af8ea2d3a682e2be2cd29bc.jpeg\" data-gallery-link=\"\" data-pswp-width=\"864\" data-pswp-height=\"476\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img width=\"720\" height=\"396\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/e3029beb5af8ea2d3a682e2be2cd29bc.jpeg\" data- alt=\"The Bastion armored personnel carrier. (Source: Arquus)<\/p>\n<p>Originally developed by\u00a0ACMAT \u2014 now a\u00a0subsidiary of\u00a0Arquus \u2014 the Bastion combines a\u00a0monocoque armored hull with a\u00a0modular layout capable of\u00a0transporting up\u00a0to\u00a0ten personnel. It\u00a0offers protection against small arms fire, artillery splinters, and landmine blasts, with STANAG Level 1\u00a0or\u00a0Level 2\u00a0ballistic protection depending on\u00a0configuration.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle is\u00a0powered by\u00a0a\u00a0215-horsepower diesel engine and can reach a\u00a0top speed of\u00a0approximately 110\u00a0km\/h. Its operational range exceeds 1,000 kilometers, allowing for extended missions without refueling. The Bastion\u2019s robust suspension and high ground clearance make it\u00a0suitable for both urban warfare and off-road operations.<\/p>\n<p>The modular design also allows for various mission-specific configurations, including ambulance, communications, and weapons platforms. It\u00a0is\u00a0used by\u00a0several countries across Africa and the Middle East, particularly in\u00a0United Nations peacekeeping missions and counter-insurgency operations.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Ukraine <a href=\"https:\/\/united24media.com\/latest-news\/ukraine-showcases-gyurza-02-its-most-advanced-urban-combat-vehicle-yet-10225\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">unveiled<\/a> the GYURZA-02 armored vehicle at\u00a0the IDEF 2025\u00a0exhibition in\u00a0Istanbul\u2014its most advanced urban combat platform to\u00a0date.
