Storm Floris is set to hit the UK<\/a> in the early morning of Monday, August 4.<\/p>\nAs well as having named a storm, the Met Office has issued yellow and more severe amber wind warnings affecting large parts of the country throughout the day on Monday.<\/p>\n
A yellow wind warning comes into effect at 6am and remains in place until 11:59pm the same day, affecting 11 UK areas including north west England and Yorkshire and Humber.<\/p>\n
The Met Office said: “Storm Floris is likely to bring a spell of unseasonably strong and potentially disruptive winds to northern UK on Monday.”<\/p>\n

And then the amber wind warning comes into effect at 10am on Monday, remaining in place for exactly 12 hours until 10pm the same day, affecting large parts of Scotland.<\/p>\n
On the amber wind warning, the Met Office said: “Storm Floris will bring unseasonably strong and disruptive winds to much of Scotland during Monday.”<\/p>\n
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Dan Suri said: \u201cMuch of Scotland is likely to see gusts of 50-70mph with more than 80mph on some exposed coasts, hills and bridges.<\/p>\n
“Western coastal areas will see the highest gusts late morning, with the strongest winds transferring to northeastern Scotland by late afternoon. Across the wider Yellow warning area, many inland areas are likely to see gusts of 40-50mph, with 60mph likely at higher elevations and around some exposed coasts.\u201d<\/p>\n
