{"id":314936,"date":"2025-08-03T16:02:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-03T16:02:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/314936\/"},"modified":"2025-08-03T16:02:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-03T16:02:10","slug":"bolton-wanderers-boss-schumacher-on-stockport-loss-and-missed-chances","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/314936\/","title":{"rendered":"Bolton Wanderers boss Schumacher on Stockport loss and missed chances"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Xavier Simons and Max Conway were denied by the woodwork either side of half time, while Corey Addai made some big saves.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Both of the hosts\u2019 goals were sucker punches at the end of the respective halves as the Whites left Edgeley Park empty-handed.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cDisappointing, obviously, to lose the game,\u201d Schumacher said after the final whistle. \u201cI thought it was a game that we probably didn&#8217;t deserve to lose.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cI felt we created a lot of opportunities again, went to some brilliant areas and didn&#8217;t make the most of them.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThe two moments that mattered, they&#8217;ve been more clinical than we have again.\u00a0So disappointing to lose it, but enough positivity in there that against a really good team,\u00a0we created well enough to win the game.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The head coach continued: \u201cI thought the performance was OK.\u00a0We know we were against a good side who pass and move the ball really well.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cI felt as though we were in control of all those situations.\u00a0We didn&#8217;t feel under pressure from many moments and got into some really good areas from our attacking point of view.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cWhat we spoke about in the week, we haven\u2019t managed to take them.\u00a0The keeper has made a couple of good saves, granted, but we&#8217;ve also missed the target from areas where we can\u2019t miss the target. That&#8217;s the most disappointing thing &#8211; we don&#8217;t do enough with our good play.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Teddy Sharman-Lowe, Xavier Simons, Amario Cozier-Duberry and Mason Burstow were handed their debuts and Max Conway got the nod following his impressive loan spell at Crewe Alexandra last season.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Despite the result, Schumacher felt there were some bright signs from the new additions to his squad.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cIt&#8217;s hard to say that when you&#8217;ve lost but, again, there is positivity in the actual way we played,\u201d he added.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThe new lads are all settled in and trying hard, and it feels like they have been here a while so that is OK.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cBut as I said, we have got to do better because in these big games, in tight games, you have got to be clinical.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Conway had a penalty shout turned down by referee Elliot Bell in the first half after a driving run into the box.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  There was also a controversial free kick awarded after Bolton thought they had won back possession high up the pitch and played in Carlos Mendes Gomes on the left.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  When asked about the decisions, Schumacher replied: \u201cFrom the first minute really, there was a real soft foul\u00a0when we nicked the ball off Ollie Norwood.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cA few minutes later, Mason Burstow got pulled back\u00a0and I said to the fourth official, \u2018If he is going to give soft ones, that\u2019s the same\u2019.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cI just felt we didn&#8217;t get the rub of the green from that moment.
