See the footage below.<\/p>\n<p>The band\u2019s only UK shows of 2025 took place on Friday and Saturday night (August 1 and 2) at Bristol\u2019s Queen Square. They were joined by the likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/soft-play\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Soft Play<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/lambrini-girls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lambrini Girls<\/a>, dubstep DJ and producer Sicaria,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/the-voidz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Voidz,\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/hinds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hinds<\/a>, a range of local DJs, and many more.<\/p>\n<p>Last night (August 2), the band celebrated their two-night stint with \u2018Danny Nedelko\u2019, using the penultimate song of their set to bring out the track\u2019s namesake.<\/p>\n<p>The song, which is taken from their 2018 album \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/idles-joy-act-resistance-review-2372527\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joy as an Act of Resistance<\/a>\u2018, criticises nationalism in the UK and celebrates immigrants including Nedelko, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/heavy-lungs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heavy Lungs<\/a> frontman who is a close friend of the band and a Ukrainian immigrant.<\/p>\n<p>It was written <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/blogs\/festivals-blog\/idles-reveal-past-glastonbury-performance-inspired-danny-nedelko-2518825\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">after the band saw PJ Harvey read John Donne\u2019s poem \u2018No Man Is An Island\u2019 at Glastonbury 2016<\/a>, and they regularly dedicate performances of it to foreigners in the UK. We didn\u2019t just want to succumb to availability \u2013 we wanted to make it the best it can be. We wanted it to be a beautiful mix of everything we\u2019re into and everything we love. It worked out really well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the first night, between songs, Talbolt said: \u201cDon\u2019t believe it, the internet is a lie,\u201d adding: \u201cthere are good human beings everywhere, go out there and fucking find them. Talbot kicked off the band\u2019s set by yelling \u201cFree Palestine!\u201d right at the start of their opening number \u2018Colossus\u2019, and the band dedicated the entirety of their set to Palestine.<\/p>\n<p>The band also recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/pulp-idles-and-fontaines-d-c-among-dozens-of-artists-to-sign-heavenly-recordings-letter-defending-kneecaps-freedom-of-expression-3859749\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">signed a letter from Heavenly Recordings defending artists\u2019 freedom of expression<\/a>\u00a0in the wake of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/kneecap-defend-satirical-live-sets-ahead-of-glastonbury-2025-its-not-our-job-to-tell-people-whats-a-joke-and-whats-not-3873172\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the charges facing Kneecap<\/a>. Speaking to NME about their responsibility to speak up, Talbot said: \u201cI think the reaction and the mobility of anti-fascists online have already turned the narrative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people are speaking up and it\u2019s empowering,\u201d he continued. \u201cSo much so that the Labour government had to acknowledge the genocide. I think that the court case is a distraction tactic by the right wing press and a lesson in being careful in what you say on stage as they can and will be weaponised. Free Palestine!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Tabolt also told us<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/idles-interview-bristol-homecoming-kneecap-gaza-new-album-3879894\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0<\/a>about how they mark \u201cthe end of an era\u201d, and how they\u2019re already looking to the next one in working on \u201cmore driven\u201d new material.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve recorded a bunch of songs,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019ve got like 10 songs and we\u2019re going to go back and do a bunch more. We\u2019re doing some other projects in between, but we\u2019re going to come back to the album later in the year and get it finished. We\u2019re recording with Kenny [Beats] and Nigel [Godrich] again. It\u2019s really magic, I can\u2019t wait.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He later added: \u201cWe\u2019ve been doing a film project and a computer game project. They are going well. We\u2019ve been working with a composer and doing a score in a studio, which is really cool. I\u2019ve learned a lot, and it\u2019s been really great.
