apart from one detail.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Matlock Bath is home to top-rated fish and chip shops, amusement arcades and even a pretty waterside promenade, but no beach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Midlands town is 70 miles away from the sea, but its riverside setting and classic attractions give it a similar ambience to <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/beaches\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">seaside towns<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Read more:<\/strong> <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/whats-on\/whats-on-news\/visited-costa-del-birmingham-holiday-32153356\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">I visited the &#8216;Costa Del Birmingham&#8217; holiday spot a bus ride from town<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">And visitors can still go for a dip, as the warm waters of the Derbyshire spa town&#8217;s historic thermal springs are still accessible at the New Bath Hotel and Spa&#8217;s restored lido.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The outdoor pool, nestled near the wildcat crafts of the Derbyshire Dales, is fed by naturally mineral-rich thermal spring water flowing at 19.8\u00b0C &#8211; a more comfortable temperature than the shores at Blackpool or Weston-super-Mare.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1_Matlock-Bath-I-went-to-the-seaside-village-that-has-everything-but-the-sea.jpg\" alt=\"Photo shows ice cream shops in Matlock Bath\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and quirky independents give Matlock Bath a coastal town feel(Image: MEN Staff)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">It was after the discovery of Matlock Bath&#8217;s springs in the 17th century that the town became something of a tourist hotspot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Today, a whole host of attractions cater to visiting families, including Gulliver&#8217;s Kingdom theme park, the 60-acre Heights of Abraham hilltop park, which can be reached by cable car, the Victorian aquarium and the traditional amusement arcades dotted along the prom.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Old-school shops selling fudge, antiques, ice creams and gifts add to the seaside feel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Those looking for a tranquil spot should head to the opposite bank of the river Derwent, where the sheer cliff of High Tor draws more walkers and climbers than tourists.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/20200911_125739_01.jpg\" alt=\"Photo shows cable cars in action\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The Heights of Abraham hilltop park is home to adventure playgrounds, hidden caves and a restaurant &#8211;
