{"id":316068,"date":"2025-08-04T02:30:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-04T02:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/316068\/"},"modified":"2025-08-04T02:30:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-04T02:30:13","slug":"holger-rune-suggests-who-he-wants-to-win-the-canadian-open-with-public-message-on-social-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/316068\/","title":{"rendered":"Holger Rune suggests who he wants to win the Canadian Open with public message on social media"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Holger Rune is out of the Canadian Open after losing to defending champion Alexei Popyrin in the fourth round.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/what-alexei-popyrin-admits-he-was-really-angry-about-during-his-match-vs-holger-rune-at-the-canadian-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Popyrin marched on to the quarterfinals<\/a> in Toronto, coming back from a set down to defeat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/holger-rune\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rune<\/a> 4-6, 6-2 6-3.<\/p>\n<p>With his triumph, he became the first player in the Open Era to win his first nine men\u2019s singles main draw matches at the event.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Dane\u2019s game was looking promising, following his three-day coaching trial period with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/andre-agassi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Andre Agassi<\/a>, but ultimately, he couldn\u2019t find an answer for an in-form <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/Alexei-Popyrin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Popyrin<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1754274612_66_GettyImages-2227581442-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"National Bank Open 2025 - Day 8\" \/>Photo by Mert Alper Dervis\/Anadolu via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Following his defeat, Rune took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say: \u201cGood things and bad things tonight.
