\n The series, previously only available as e-books through Joffe Books, is now out in physical form thanks to a deal with Bittern Books, a wholesaler specialising in East Anglia.\n<\/p>\n
\n Judi Daykin said: “I was aware of Bittern Books for a while, but as Joffe Books is my publisher, I couldn\u2019t reach out directly myself.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It\u2019s absolutely fantastic because now Bittern Books can help get my books into bookshops, not just online.\n<\/p>\n
\n “There\u2019s something about seeing a book you\u2019ve created on a shelf in a shop.\n<\/p>\n
\n “It feels like validation.”\n<\/p>\n
\n All of Ms Daykin’s novels are set in North Norfolk and follow police officer DS Sara Hirst.\n<\/p>\n
\n They are all inspired by the author’s life in the county.\n<\/p>\n
\n Prior to lockdown, she\u2019d spent most of her professional life as a working actor, touring the UK with her husband in various theatre companies.\n<\/p>\n
\n Although born in Yorkshire, she moved to Norfolk forty years ago.\n<\/p>\n
\n She was then a technician at the Pavilion Theatre at the end of Cromer Pier, which she said was a big influence on her life and work.\n<\/p>\n
\n She said: “The Pavilion Theatre has a unique status in that, not only is it still open, but it still runs an old-fashioned seaside variety show in the summer.”\n<\/p>\n
\n She retired from acting in the Covid pandemic and was accepted onto the University of East Anglia’s creative writing master’s course, where she wrote her first DS Sara Hirst novel.\n<\/p>\n
\n Steve Haines, owner of Bittern Books, said: “As soon as I started reading Under Violent Skies\u00a0I realised it was a real page turner.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Judi\u2019s books are all set locally, using locations around North Norfolk that locals and visitors will be very familiar with.\n<\/p>\n
\n “We now have Judi\u2019s books in stores all around Norfolk, including Waterstones and City Bookshop in Norwich, as well as many others around the county.”\n<\/p>\n
