This powerful novella follows an Irish coal merchant who uncovers the exploitation and abuse of young pregnant girls at a local convent. The story draws inspiration from the real-life history of the Magdalene Laundries, institutions where Irish women were forced into unpaid labor and pressured to give up their children.<\/p>\n
Originally published in 2021, Keegan\u2019s book has already been adapted into a film\u2014now available to stream on Hulu and other platforms.<\/p>\n
