Birmingham City\u2019s transfer bid for Ajax\u2019s Chuba Akpom is said to be facing another hijack attempt.<\/p>\n
Blues <\/a>looked to have beaten off late competition from Middlesbrough for the striker, with Akpom understood to be set for a medical at the club on Monday ahead of a transfer to St. Andrew\u2019s.<\/p>\n But Sky Sports <\/a>now report that Ipswich Town have made a last-minute approach to Ajax to try to strike a deal from under Birmingham<\/a>\u2019s nose.<\/p>\n Blues<\/a> are reported to have struck a deal with Ajax to take Akpom on a season-long loan, with Sky reporting the deal will include an obligation to buy the player for \u00a37m if they are promoted to the Premier League this season.<\/p>\n Signing Akpom would bolster Blues’ forward line following the departure of Alfie May.
