{"id":316983,"date":"2025-08-04T11:13:22","date_gmt":"2025-08-04T11:13:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/316983\/"},"modified":"2025-08-04T11:13:22","modified_gmt":"2025-08-04T11:13:22","slug":"germany-is-keeping-a-close-eye-on-kenya-as-its-people-continue-to-rise-against-the-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/316983\/","title":{"rendered":"Germany is keeping a close eye on Kenya as its people continue to rise against the government"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n        Some of said issues include <a href=\"https:\/\/africa.businessinsider.com\/local\/markets\/businesses-in-kenya-hold-their-breath-as-the-country-plans-to-recall-a-painful-memory\/gvtxk71\" id=\"cb246d41-2cb2-4f28-92bf-cb92348d76ac\" data-link-role-code=\"open_new_tab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>constant public unrest<\/strong><\/a>, calls for an overhaul in public offices, and complete lack of trust in government, which was highlighted by the German Ambassador to Kenya, Sebastian Groth.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        During an interview with Kenyan news publication, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-star.co.ke\/news\/2025-08-04-envoy-concerned-about-low-trust-in-public-institutions\" id=\"4ff6ee8f-d5c1-4c7a-a357-8e4cc981730b\" data-link-role-code=\"open_new_tab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Star<\/a>, the German ambassador highlighted how much of an issue a lack of government trust is becoming.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        \u201cMy impression, after talking to people from various backgrounds, is that there is a significant erosion of trust in public institutions,\u201d Groth said.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        \u201cAnd a state cannot function properly if its citizens don\u2019t have confidence in its institutions.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        The ambassador&#8217;s comments coincide with a Geopoll study titled &#8220;Perceptions on the June 25 Gen Z Protests in Kenya,&#8221; which found a significant decline in trust in the government.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        According to the report, 63% of participants said they had little faith in the administration to handle the issues raised by demonstrators.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        Of these, 38% said they had &#8220;very little&#8221; faith in the government, while 26% said they had &#8220;no faith at all.&#8221;\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        During the interview, he noted that Germany can play the role of mediator in restoring the trust that has been lost, given how valuable the Kenyan market is to West-European country.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        \u201cWe\u2019re open to acting as a bridge between various groups because we understand the context from all sides and we are keen to help restore trust,\u201d he stated.\n    <\/p>\n<p>\n        \u201cThis relationship means a lot to us.
