Today, we highlight the <a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Glossary:European_Union_(EU)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU<\/a>\u2019s role in the world tourism sector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">The EU received 25.9% of worldwide receipts from international tourism in 2023: 15.2% was from international tourism between EU countries, while 10.7% came from non-EU tourists.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">Considering EU countries individually, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Austria, Greece, the Netherlands, Croatia and Poland would rank among the countries with at least 1.0% of worldwide receipts from international tourism.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">In 2023, 18 non-EU countries received at least 1.0% of worldwide receipts from international tourism. The United States had a 12.3% share, which was far higher than the share recorded for other non-EU countries; the United Kingdom had the next highest share (4.8%).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/d60eab36-36fe-a38f-7e2e-70e4e55ab8bf\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Receipts from international tourism, 2023, % of worldwide receipts.
