A woman was pulled from a Mersey dock close to the Birkenhead<\/a> Ferry Terminal in the early hours of Saturday morning. A huge emergency services presence was called to Tower Road in Seacombe on August 2 following reports of a person in the water.<\/p>\n Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service<\/a> confirmed to the ECHO<\/a> that crews were alerted at around 3.47am and were on scene five minutes later. The fire service dispatched two engines, the search and rescue team and the rescue boat ‘Marine Fire One’<\/a>.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for the fire service told the ECHO<\/a> that crews found a person in difficulty in the water. They added a member of the fire service entered the water on a tethered line to assist the woman.<\/p>\n They were conveyed out of the water safely and into the care of a team from the North West Ambulance Service.<\/p>\n A picture sent to the ECHO<\/a> showed a huge presence on the bridge close to the entrance to the Stena Line ferry terminal.<\/p>\n He told the ECHO<\/a>: “As I was going through the tunnel, ambulances and fire engines went past there.” He added he was told by customers that emergency services were seen by the Matou Pan Asian restaurant.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for HM Coastguard told the ECHO<\/a>: “A woman reported in the water at Alfred Dock, Birkenhead, at about 3.40am on August 2 was recovered to safety in an operation coordinated by HM Coastguard.<\/p>\n “Coastguard Rescue Teams were sent from Wirral<\/a> and Crosby<\/a>, as well as the RNLI’s inshore lifeboat from New Brighton<\/a>.
