CCTV appeared to show Craig Foy climbing into Heaton Park on the night he vanishedCraig Foy<\/p>\n

Police investigating the disappearance of a man from Bury have confirmed a body has been found today (August 4).<\/p>\n

The search for Craig Foy has involved teams of officers scouring Heaton Park<\/a> in Prestwich. Three people were arrested on suspicion of murder as part of the investigation.<\/p>\n

Two have been told they will face no further action and one has been released on bail, Greater Manchester Police<\/a> said.<\/p>\n

CCTV appeared to show Craig climbing into the park on the night he vanished.<\/p>\n

The 40-year-old, also known as Craig Kirwan, was last seen on Bury<\/a> Old Road in Prestwich<\/a>, near the junction with Kenyon Lane at around 11.45pm last Saturday (July 26).<\/p>\n

He left an address on King\u2019s Close in Prestwich<\/a>, alone and on foot, just after 11.30pm.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued today, GMP said : “Following the search for missing Whitefield<\/a> man Craig Foy, we can now sadly confirm that a body has been found in connection with our investigation.<\/p>\n

“An extensive search by our Major Incident Team followed, including in the Heaton Park area after CCTV enquiries led us there. Formal identification has not yet taken place, however the body is believed to be that of Craig.<\/p>\n

His family have been informed, and they are being supported by specialist officers during this extremely difficult time.”<\/p>\n

Detective Chief Inspector Jill Billington, from GMP’s Serious Crime Division, said: \u201cThe investigation remains ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to Craig\u2019s death, and to ensure that we can get the answers that his family deserve.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate the support of the public in sharing our appeals to locate Craig and ask for his family to be given privacy, space and time to process their loss.”<\/p>\n

The search for Craig became a ‘high risk missing person’ investigation. GMP say at this stage whether anyone else is involved in his disappearance and death.<\/p>\n
