It\u2019s hard to imagine the royal family has much downtime, but like us, they also spend their spare moments catching up on their favourite box sets and Netflix hits. From the spy thriller loved by Princes William<\/a> and Harry<\/a>, to the Princess of Wales<\/a>\u2019 reality guilty pleasure, we\u2019ve rounded up the top shows beloved by the royals themselves.<\/p>\n

\"Bridgerton.\u00a9 LIAM DANIEL\/NETFLIXBridgerton<\/p>\n

During a visit to the Chelsea Flower Show last year with King Charles,\u00a0Queen Camilla<\/a> toured a garden inspired by the character Penelope Featherington (played by\u00a0Nicola Coughlan<\/a>), where she shared that she was a fan of the hit regency romance series. The Queen\u00a0revealed<\/a> that she \u201cwatched the first lot\u201d of the show\u2019s third season, ahead of the season\u2019s second part dropping the following month. We hope Her Majesty enjoyed the season finale as much as we did (and is eagerly anticipating the show\u2019s\u00a0upcoming fourth season<\/a>).<\/p>\n

\"Clarkson'sClarkson\u2019s Farm<\/p>\n

When Prince William met with the stars of\u00a0Clarkson\u2019s Farm\u00a0earlier this year, we were not expecting him to reveal that his 11-year-old son\u00a0George<\/a> is also a fan of the Amazon Prime documentary series. Speaking to\u00a0ITV News<\/a>, the Prince of Wales hilariously shared that he asked his son what he should say if he met Kaleb Cooper, one of the show\u2019s stars, to which George replied: \u201cTell Kaleb to mind his language\u201d. That\u2019s proper prince behaviour indeed!<\/p>\n

\"Wolf\u00a9 Nick BriggsWolf Hall<\/p>\n

A known lover of literature, Queen Camilla\u00a0revealed<\/a> that\u00a0she enjoyed<\/a> watching the critically acclaimed BBC historical drama with\u00a0King Charles<\/a>, which is based on the trilogy by Hilary Mantel. Starring\u00a0Mark Rylance<\/a>, the series chronicles Thomas Cromwell\u2019s rise to power, and is a favourite among Tudor history lovers. With its rich storytelling and sumptuous scenery, we\u2019re sure this is an enjoyable watch for the King and Queen. <\/p>\n

Just like us, the Queen isn\u2019t always in the mood to watch something so serious. She is also reportedly a fan of the Disney+ series Rivals, the racy adaptation of Jilly Cooper\u2019s second book in the Rutshire Chronicles series. A palace insider<\/a> shared that Camilla \u201cadored\u00a0Rivals\u201d, and received a preview copy before the series was available to the public. Known for its humour and hedonism,\u00a0Rivals\u00a0is set in the 80\u2019s and stars David Tennant and Alex Hassell. After ending on a dramatic cliffhanger, the\u00a0second season<\/a> is expected to hit screens in 2026 \u2013 although maybe Her Majesty will find out what happens sooner!<\/p>\n

\"Vanessa\u00a9 NetflixThe Crown<\/p>\n

Upon the show\u2019s inception, we were all eager to hear what the royal family thought of this depiction of their lives. It\u2019s safe to say the Netflix drama has been a hit with multiple royals.\u00a0Vanessa Kirby<\/a>, who played Princess Margaret in seasons one and two, revealed that the late Queen Elizabeth II had tuned into\u00a0The Crown. During an interview with\u00a0Harper\u2019s Bazaar<\/a> in 2018, she said: \u201cA friend of mine was at a party and didn\u2019t know anyone, so he sidled up to this group who were talking about\u00a0The Crown. One girl said, \u2018Well, my granny watches it and really likes it\u2019. It slowly dawned on him that the girl was\u00a0Eugenie<\/a> and her granny was the Queen.\u201d\u00a0Sarah Ferguson<\/a> and Princess Eugenie have also\u00a0praised<\/a> the show\u2019s beautiful music, storytelling, and cinematography.<\/p>\n

\"keira\u00a9 Netflix Black Doves<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Keira Knightley<\/a>-led Netflix spy thriller, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination, is a favourite of Princes William and Harry, and Princesses Kate and\u00a0Meghan<\/a> alike. Speaking to\u00a0People<\/a> magazine, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that she loved catching up on TV with her husband after a long day, and that they\u2019d just finished watching the popular show. The series has also been a favourite at Kensington Palace; during a party for the\u00a01st Battalion Mercian Regiment<\/a> in Wiltshire last Christmas, Prince William shared that he had been watching the show with his wife over the festive period.\u00a0Black Doves\u00a0debuted with an impressive 100 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, and we share in the\u00a0Sussexes and Waleses<\/a>\u2019 anticipation of its upcoming second season.<\/p>\n

In her interview with\u00a0People\u00a0magazine, Meghan also shared another TV show that she and Prince Harry were enjoying. The Apple TV+ original debuted in 2023, starring Jason Segel as a therapist who decides to start telling his patients exactly what\u2019s on his mind. Segel stars alongside\u00a0Harrison Ford<\/a>, and the show currently has two seasons, with a third on the way. The Duchess of Sussex shared that the pair of them \u201cloved\u201d the show, and they\u2019re not alone \u2013 the show\u2019s second season was recognised as one of the top ten TV programs of the year by the American Film Institute. The Sussexes clearly have great taste!<\/p>\n

\"Strictly\u00a9 BBC\/Guy LevyStrictly Come Dancing<\/p>\n

The Princess of Wales is a longtime fan of the dance contest show, and even stepped out for a secret tour of the studio with her husband and Prince Louis in\u00a02023<\/a>.\u00a0Marie Claire<\/a> reported that while Kate was the\u00a0Strictly\u00a0mega-fan of the two, William had tuned into a couple of episodes, and also jokingly asked host\u00a0Claudia Winkleman<\/a> why she never danced on-screen, to which she replied, \u201cI\u2019m too creaky!\u201d Could there be a royal appearance on Strictly in the near future? We smell a crowd favourite\u2026<\/p>\n

A royal\u00a0source<\/a> revealed that, following her successful abdominal surgery in 2024, Princess Kate was enjoying catching up her favourite guilty pleasure shows during her recovery, including Hulu\u2019s The Kardashians. Following on from Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which ran for an astounding 20 seasons, the reality series continues to chronicle the glamorous lives of the Kardashian-Jenner clan. Like the rest of us, the Princess of Wales no doubt enjoys the plethora of scandals and drama packed into every episode!<\/p>\n

Rivals co-star Aidan Turner<\/a> also stars in another favourite show of the royal family, this time King Charles himself! During a visit to Fowey, South Cornwall, the county where the majority of filming took place, the King said<\/a>: \u201cWhat I can\u2019t get over watching that Poldark stuff on TV is how many he [author Winston Graham ] wrote\u2026\u201d. Graham wrote 12 books in the series, with just over half of them being used as material for the hit TV adaptation. With its stunning Cornish coastal shots and rich historical undertones, we\u2019re not surprised King Charles enjoys watching this series.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0John Simm<\/a>-led series captured Queen Camilla\u2019s attention so much that she even paid a visit to the set of the ITV adaptation. Speaking about her visit, Peter James, the author of the hit novels, told\u00a0Hello!<\/a>: \u201cAbout six years ago, a friend of mine rang me and he said, \u2018Get today\u2019s Daily Mail.\u2019 There was a photograph of Camilla in her office with about six of my books behind her head.\u201d The British crime drama, set in Brighton and Hove, has been renewed for a sixth season, which is anticipated to air next year. <\/p>\n
