was an acronym revealed the word was actually a misspelling of &#8216;Googol.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Googol is the number 1 followed by 100 zeros, which was selected to reflect the mission of Google founders <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-9462017\/Google-founders-Larry-Page-Sergey-Brin-100BILLION-net-worth.html\" rel=\"noopener\">Larry Page and Sergey Brin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The mission &#8211; was invented by nine-year-old Milton Sirotta in 1920.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Sirotta&#8217;s inspiration behind the term may have been the comic strip character Barney Google.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The boy was the nephew of American mathematician Edward Kasner, who frequently referenced Googol in his book &#8216;Mathematics and the Imagination.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Page revealed the name came up while he and Brin were thinking of what to name their search engine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">However, the individual who suggested the name accidentally spelled the word as &#8216;Google,&#8217; which they kept.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Despite Google coming from that mathematical term, Quora member Ezio Solutions Private Limited thought otherwise despite the explanation of the meaning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The user claimed Google actually stands for &#8216;Global Organization of Oriented Group Language of Earth.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">While the user&#8217;s definition of &#8216;Googol&#8217;
