A brave Glasgow<\/a> lad out on a \u2018sub-crawl\u2019 saved a complete stranger from death, after he fell onto the tracks 20 seconds before a train arrived.<\/p>\n Mitchell Rowan, 20, leapt onto live tracks and hauled a man who had stumbled and fallen onto the tracks just one minute before the next subway was due to arrive.<\/p>\n He had been out with five friends, taking on the city\u2019s <\/a>famous sub-crawl, which involves visiting bars at each stop on the Clockwork Orange. They were on their third stop when the horror incident unfolded, on Saturday, July 26 around 8.30pm.<\/p>\n He told the Record: \u201cMe and my mates were on the sub crawl.<\/a> We were only three stops in at Kelvinhall.<\/a> There was a guy who must have been drinking as he was staggering about a bit.<\/p>\n \u201cI went down to tie my lace and the guy just suddenly fell, he had banged his head off the track and he was just lying there<\/a> unconscious. The train was approaching in a minute.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cTwo of my pals <\/a>were trying to lean down to pull him back up. I could see the lights and hear the train coming.<\/a> I just decided to jump on the track and lift the guy off.”<\/p>\n Quick-thinking Mitchell valiantly risked his own life, in front of his stunned mates, to lift the stranger to safety – narrowly escaping the oncoming <\/a>train.<\/p>\n Mitchell continued: \u201cI managed to lift him and get him on the platform, the train arrived 10 to 20 seconds later.<\/a> It was a split second decision. All I could think about was saving him and getting him out of danger.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think I could have faced the thought of not doing anything to help him. If the train hit him it would have been horrendous for everyone involved.\u201d<\/p>\n Mitchell and his pals, John Devine, 21, Luke Robertson, 21, Sam Riley, 20, and Nairn Sandlan, 19, rushed upstairs to quickly alert the station’s security team who called an ambulance. This woman who was a bit older was actually a trained paramedic so she began to give the guy medical attention.<\/p>\n \u201cThe other passengers were shocked and full of praise for us but the subway<\/a> team didn\u2019t even acknowledge it.
