\n\t\t\tSOLIHULL has been named as Birmingham\u2019s most popular commuter town.<\/p>\n
Around 14 per cent of people moving from Birmingham set up home in the borough in 2024, according to a report by Compare My Move.\n<\/p>\n
The report looked at where the residents of Birmingham are moving within the West Midlands, and why they are choosing those specific towns.<\/p>\n
It found in 2024, there was a year-on-year rise in people moving out of Birmingham by just under four per cent, and a majority of those moves were to other destinations in the West Midlands, satellite towns with easy connections to Birmingham.<\/p>\n
Solihull was named as the top commuter destination with Sutton Coldfield and Tamworth coming in second and third respectfully.<\/p>\n
Redditch came in fourth, Bromsgrove in sixth and Coventry in eighth.<\/p>\n
\nDave Sayce, co-founder and managing director of Compare My Move, said: \u201cThese satellite towns are in commuting distance to Birmingham town centre, and therefore get all of the benefits of employment, entertainment and transport links, while also being a little quieter and having a lot more green space, there is also a lot more space for bigger homes, which explains why the purchase price is a little more in these commuter towns.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnother big factor in people moving to these satellite towns is that the crime rates are a lot lower in other parts of the West Midlands.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ONS reported that Birmingham sees 121.44 police recorded crimes per 1,000 people. Which, according to police.uk, is 11.37 crimes more than the police force.<\/p>\n
