{"id":319633,"date":"2025-08-05T11:02:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-05T11:02:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/319633\/"},"modified":"2025-08-05T11:02:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T11:02:10","slug":"new-venue-komunal-to-open-in-birmingham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/319633\/","title":{"rendered":"New venue, komunal, to open in Birmingham"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new community music space is set to open in Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p>Opening in Digbeth on 15th August, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/komunal94\/?hl=en\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer external nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">komunal<\/a> is dedicated to &#8220;high-quality electronic music&#8221;, and promises to provide a platform for &#8220;thoughtful programming and independent global voices&#8221;, according to a press release.<\/p>\n<p>The komunal team space will also house the karavan, a livestream booth inside a converted caravan, where regular sessions for the new <a href=\"https:\/\/ra.co\/promoters\/99203\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer external nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">komrad<\/a> online radio station will be held.<\/p>\n<p>komunal will host a launch party on 15th August with Berlin-based Croatian DJ Dea Dvornik, part of the duo ERIS.<\/p>\n<p>Further down the line, the komunal team have described their programming as &#8220;a rotating line-up of carefully curated selectors and DJs, each bringing a distinct perspective on contemporary club culture&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Check out the komunal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/komunal94\/?hl=en\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer external nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram<\/a> page for event updates. You can also join the club&#8217;s WhatsApp group for updates\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/chat.whatsapp.com\/LpjYhyXKRsU5hcoPfZCORl\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer external nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In other Birmingham club news, <a href=\"https:\/\/djmag.com\/news\/new-2000-capacity-club-opens-birmingham-forum-digbeth\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a\u00a0new 2000-capacity club<\/a>\u00a0was opened earlier this year by the same team\u00a0behind Forum Birmingham, which shut down permanently in April.<\/p>\n<p>December 2024 also saw the arrival of\u00a0a new \u201cback to basics\u201d underground club in the city called <a href=\"https:\/\/djmag.com\/news\/new-back-basics-underground-club-colette-open-birmingham\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Colette<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>These new venue arrivals bring a welcome note of optimism to a landscape in which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/djmag.com\/news\/birminghams-culture-budget-faces-major-cuts-following-city-council-announcement\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cultural institutions in Birmingham have recently faced major funding cuts<\/a>\u00a0and grassroots venues around the country have faced closure due to soaring costs.<\/p>\n<p>Last October, the UK&#8217;s\u00a0Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) warned that<a href=\"https:\/\/djmag.com\/news\/uk-clubs-could-be-extinct-end-of-decade-ntia-warns\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0UK clubs could be \u201cextinct\u201d by the end of the decade<\/a>\u00a0should the rate of closures continue with such intensity.
