In 2022, the princess joined her dad for a video message ahead of the Lionesses\u2019 Euros final victory against Germany that year, telling the team, \u201cGood luck! I hope you win. Bye!\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_14-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> As far back as 2015\u2014just two weeks after she was born\u2014Charlotte was given a Lionesses jersey, and it seems she\u2019s been a fan ever since. Back in 2022, William told the team that \u201cCharlotte wanted me to tell you that she is really good at goal. But what about Charlotte? William and Kate are certainly keen to avoid \u201cthe heir and the spare\u201d dynamic that plagued William and his younger brother <a class=\"recommendation-inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instyle.com\/prince-william-envious-prince-harry-freedom-8641449\" link-destination-recommendation=\"true\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Harry<\/a>, so much so that the Duke of Sussex named his 2023 memoir Spare.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_21-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cThere is no rush for Charlotte to take on a royal role, but there will be roles to fill in future,\u201d Jobson said. \u201cWe know that she\u2019s quite sporty and she likes her ballet, so I would have thought that she might eventually take on patronages relating to sports, like her parents, and dance, like her late grandmother <a class=\"recommendation-inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instyle.com\/princess-diana-wedding-uptown-girl-criticism-8706939\" link-destination-recommendation=\"true\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Princess Diana<\/a>.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p> Princess Charlotte on December 25, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Getty<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_24-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cThe Wales family are sport-mad, and William and Catherine have clearly passed on their passion to their kids, so we\u2019ve seen George and Charlotte popping up at major sporting events in a way we\u2019ve not seen in previous generations of the royal family,\u201d he added. \u201cIt shows support for the sportsmen and women, but also a genuine interest in events that so many other people care about. It\u2019s a great way for them to connect.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_26-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Charlotte\u2019s role as a working royal is a long way off, but outings like the one on July 27 could indicate that William and Kate want all of their children to be the \u201cchosen\u201d ones\u2014not just George. \u201cIn a royal family traditionally focused on the need to create an heir to the throne, and then a spare just in case something goes wrong, the Waleses want their children to have emotional security instead of giving special treatment to the chosen one,\u201d royal commentator Richard Palmer said (via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/royals\/prince-william-kates-intelligent-princess-35671889\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Mirror<\/a>).\n<\/p>\n<p> Prince George, Kate Middleton, Prince Louis, Prince William, and Princess Charlotte on September 7, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Getty Images<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_31-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Palmer said Charlotte \u201chas inherited her mother\u2019s poise and an inner strength and confidence,\u201d and royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith said that Charlotte may well undertake duties on behalf of the Crown someday\u2014she also suggesting that Charlotte\u2019s future royal role may involve sports.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_33-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cI think this is an intelligent way to do it,\u201d she said. \u201cI would imagine Charlotte will be part of the picture.
