Somerset have named James Rew as captain for their One-Day Cup team this season.<\/b><\/p>\n

The 21-year-old wicketkeeper has scored 1,106 runs at an average of 39.50 in 31 list A matches for his county. <\/p>\n

“I feel very honoured to have been asked to captain the Metro One-Day Cup side this year. It is a great privilege as I love representing this club in all formats and I’m delighted to be able to lead such a talented and close-knit group,” he told the club’s website, external<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I’ve already been lucky enough to captain the County Championship side earlier this season, and I loved the experience, so I am looking forward to leading a slightly younger side.”<\/p>\n

Rew has also scored 3,199 runs in 53 red-ball matches at an average of 42.09 and has hit 134 runs in four T20s, at an average of 44.66.<\/p>\n

Somerset announced on Tuesday that Josh Davey, Ben Green and Kasey Aldridge<\/a> would leave the club at the end of the season.<\/p>\n
