Ukraine’s top military commander warned on Aug. 5 that Russia is accelerating its mobilization efforts, with plans to form 10 new military divisions by the end of the year.<\/p>\n

Oleksandr Syrskyi<\/a>, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said<\/a> two of the divisions have already been formed, and that Russian forces are adding approximately 9,000 troops each month \u2014 despite suffering heavy losses.<\/p>\n

According to Syrskyi, Russian forces lost more than 33,200 personnel in July alone \u2014 800 more than the previous month. Russia is estimated to have lost<\/a> more than one million military personnel since the start of the full-scale invasion<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Despite this,” he said, “the opponent is increasing its forces<\/a> by 9,000 people every month.”<\/p>\n

To respond to Russia’s growing military, Syrskyi said Ukraine has “no other choice but to continue mobilization<\/a> measures, improve combat training, and strengthen the unmanned component of our troops.”<\/p>\n

He also announced ongoing reforms within Ukraine’s<\/a> military corps to improve coordination and battlefield effectiveness.<\/p>\n

“We understand the situation and know what must be done,” Syrskyi said.<\/p>\n

“Our opponent will increase pressure \u2014 our common task is to prevent them from achieving their objectives. We will achieve this task.”<\/p>\n

The visit, which Russia has yet to confirm, would likely take place on Aug. 6 or 7 \u2014 immediately before a deadline Trump imposed on Moscow to reach a peace deal with Ukraine or suffer secondary tariffs targeting its oil exports. \u201cI think this is an effort to give (Russian President Vladimir) Putin one last chance\u201d before the<\/p>\n
