An investigation has been launched following an incident where a motorist “deliberately” rammed into a Garda<\/a> car in Louth, inflicting damage on the law enforcement vehicle.<\/p>\n At around 8:30pm on Saturday, August 3, members of the Louth Roads Policing unit were on patrol as part of the Garda<\/a> Bank Holiday weekend road safety operation when they were involved in a serious incident.<\/p>\n Throughout the August Bank Holiday weekend, Gardai\u0301 have been carrying out a targeted traffic enforcement operation which started at 7am on Thursday, July 31 and is set to run until 7am on Wednesday, August 6.<\/p>\n While on duty in the Ravensdale area, just north of Dundalk, Gardai\u0301 spotted a grey Northern Ireland <\/a>registered Audi A4 behaving in a manner that raised suspicion.<\/p>\n The driver of the Audi A4 intentionally collided with the Roads Policing patrol car when an attempt was made to pull the vehicle over, showing a blatant disregard for the safety of the Gardai\u0301, reports the Irish Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n Fortunately, no Gardai\u0301 sustained physical injuries, and the investigation is ongoing. The Gardai\u0301 have stated they are “working closely” with their counterparts in the PSNI<\/a> to track down those responsible and are calling for witnesses to come forward.<\/p>\n A Garda<\/a> spokesperson said: “If you witnessed anything suspicious in the Ravensdale area around 8.30pm – or have any information that may assist- please contact Dundalk Garda Station on 0429388400 or call 999 in an emergency<\/p>\n “Our Roads Policing Units remain on patrol across the region focused on keeping people safe.
