The <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/health\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">health<\/a> service has taken to social media platform X where they posted a series of images and guidelines on how to act swiftly if you happen to be in the situation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/nhs\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">NHS<\/a> posted: &#8220;Do you know the difference <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/health\/heart-attack-alert-5m-brits-35644044\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">between a heart attack and cardiac arrest<\/a>? Know what to do in these emergencies and help spread the word.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Subsequently, the NHS detailed the actions<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/cholesterol-warning-sign-can-found-35657837\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> to take if someone is undergoing a cardiac arrest<\/a>: &#8220;The person will be unconscious and not breathing, or not breathing normally. The faster you act, the better their chances of survival.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In the event of a suspected cardiac arrest, the advice is to dial 999 and commence CPR without delay. &#8221; Additionally, the NHS offered guidance for situations where someone might be having a heart attack.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">They advised: &#8220;The person will usually be conscious and may experience symptoms including chest pain, dizziness, and shortness of breath.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;If you think someone is having a heart attack, call 999 immediately&#8221;, reports <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.essexlive.news\/news\/health\/nhs-shares-3-key-symptoms-10138615\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Essex Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/0_uk-paramedic.jpg\" alt=\"A paramedic getting out of an ambulance\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The NHS recommended to call 999 immediately if you&#8217;re in that situation(Image: Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Other symptoms noted on the NHS website encompass pain in the left arm, sweating, feeling sick or being sick, and coughing or wheezing. It&#8217;s also important to recognise that an individual experiencing a cardiac arrest won&#8217;t react to any noise or touch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The NHS describes a cardiac arrest as a severe situation where the &#8220;heart stops beating in a normal way, preventing blood from pumping around the body&#8221;.
