He later joined Antona at Simpsons Restaurant<\/strong><\/a>, helping to run one of the Midlands\u2019 most celebrated kitchens and building a reputation across multiple Michelin\u2011listed and AA Rosette<\/a> venues.<\/p>\n THE INCIDENT<\/p>\n Matt\u00a0suffered a life-changing electric shock around October 2017\u00a0while preparing for lunch service at a restaurant in Staffordshire. The incident involved a 32-amp current that severely injured his left arm.<\/p>\n As a result of the incident, Matt was forced to leave the industry after having his arm amputated.<\/p>\n Matt is also the vice president of The British Culinary Federation<\/a> and champion charity fundraiser for Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham where he received treatment.<\/p>\n Since the incident, despite enduring more than 70 gruelling operations, living with chronic pain and PTSD, Matt has gone on to raise over \u00a3125,000 for various charities including Hospitality Action<\/a>.<\/p>\n The dinner<\/p>\n On September 11, for one night only, the original team from The Plough & Harrow – where Matt first joined the brigade – will reunite in the kitchen to support his latest fundraising event.<\/p>\n Remarkably, it marks the first time in almost four decades that this celebrated team has cooked together, promising an evening steeped in nostalgia and culinary history.<\/p>\n The event includes a glass of champagne on arrival followed by a five-course dinner with tea and coffee.<\/p>\n A post on social media read: \u201cAfter a serious accident at work, Matt Davies launched into fundraising mode and has since raised over \u00a3100k for The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, Fisher House and Hospitality Action.<\/p>\n \u201cBack in the mid 1980’s Matt was Chef Andreas’ first ever apprentice at The Plough & Harrow on the Hagley Road, Birmingham.
