{"id":321987,"date":"2025-08-06T08:04:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T08:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/321987\/"},"modified":"2025-08-06T08:04:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T08:04:09","slug":"oasis-murrayfield-shows-to-bring-136-6m-boost-to-edinburgh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/321987\/","title":{"rendered":"Oasis Murrayfield shows to bring \u00a3136.6m boost to Edinburgh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  New research from\u00a0Novuna Personal Finance\u00a0claims that the band\u2019s three-night residency at Murrayfield Stadium this summer will be one of the biggest cultural and economic events Edinburgh has seen in years.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/25240745.glasgow-college-unveils-oasis-masterclass-ahead-reunion-tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oasis<\/a>\u00a0will play at Edinburgh&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/culture\/24265207.best-restaurants-near-murrayfield-stadium-edinburgh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Murrayfield Stadium<\/a>\u00a0for three gigs on Friday, August 8, Saturday, August 9 and Tuesday, August 12.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Doors for all three events will open at 5pm, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketmaster.co.uk\/scottish-gas-murrayfield-tickets-edinburgh\/venue\/443365\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ticketmaster<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>READ MORE:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/25367459.meet-new-space-chief-aiming-scotlands-ambitions-global-force\/?rel=cl_lsa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet the new space chief aiming to further Scotland\u2019s ambitions as a global force<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The reunion shows are expected to attract around 200,000 fans. with each concert in Edinburgh forecast to generate \u00a345.5 million in fan spending.\u00a0The Gallagher brothers\u2019 last Scottish gig was in 2009.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\n  This equated to a net local economic impact of \u00a342.6 million \u2013 with money being spent in local pubs, restaurants, hotels, shops and on transport services.\n<\/p>\n<p>  According to Novuna\u2019s report, Oasis fan spending will be spread across several key areas, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a332m on food and drink\n  <\/li>\n<li>\u00a331.6m on concert tickets\n  <\/li>\n<li>\u00a327.5m on shopping and leisure across the city\n  <\/li>\n<li>\u00a324.9m on travel including journeys to and within the host city\n  <\/li>\n<li>\u00a314.5m on merchandise\n  <\/li>\n<li>\u00a36.2m on accommodation\n  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  Oasis Live &#8217;25 vs. Taylor Swift&#8217;s Eras Tour<\/p>\n<p>\n  Oasis\u2019 long-awaited comeback will see the band play 17 shows across London, Manchester, Cardiff, and Edinburgh between July and September, drawing almost 1.4m fans who are set to fork out \u00a3682.80 in total to attend a show.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In comparison, Swifties spent more on last year\u2019s Eras Tour, averaging \u00a3848.30 per fan across 15 UK shows.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\n  Total fan spending across all 17 dates is projected to be \u00a3940.3m \u2013\u00a0a similar level to the nearly \u00a31bn (\u00a3997m) spent on Taylor Swift\u2019s UK leg of the Eras Tour in 2024.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  However, the net economic impact of the Oasis tour is estimated at \u00a3274.4m across the four host cities \u2013 more than double the reported \u00a3122m figure from The Sports Consultancy for Swift\u2019s 15 UK shows last summer.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>READ MORE:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/culture\/24375072.went-taylor-swifts-tour-edinburgh---like\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I went to Taylor Swift\u2019s tour in Edinburgh &#8211; here&#8217;s what it was like | The National<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n    Theresa Lindsay, chief marketing officer at Novuna Personal Finance, said: \u201cOasis\u2019 return to Edinburgh is a landmark moment for the city and its music fans.
