Plans to convert a vacant pub in Altrincham town centre into a restaurant and a house of multiple occupancy have been lodged.<\/p>\n
The Orange Tree pub sits in the Old Market Place Conservation Area, which has been on the English Heritage At Risk Register since 2012.<\/p>\n
Taurus Design Services, acting for applicant Mr D Walton, says in a design and access statement on Trafford<\/a> council\u2019s planning portal that since 2014, The Orange Tree has \u2018deteriorated noticeably both in appearance and from structural failings and has had up to four landlords in the last four years\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cThe uses during this time only added to the decay of the property internally and the appearance of the exterior, particularly to the side and rear,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n Never miss a story with the MEN’s daily Catch Up newsletter – get it in your inbox by signing up <\/strong>here<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThe redevelopment of The Orange Tree will ensure the future longevity of the property and bring much-needed revenue to the area.\u201d<\/p>\n The proposed use will be HMO on the first and second floors, comprising 10 bedrooms \u2013 five on each floor \u2013 with ensuite facilities and a shared lounge and kitchen area. On the ground floor there will be a licensed restaurant.<\/p>\n There are also plans to extend the premises along Albert Street.
