A legendary Manchester restaurant<\/a> which is situated in a historic building dating back to the 19th-century is to undergo a major revamp.<\/p>\n

Grand Central, which is based in Spring Gardens in the city centre<\/a>, is known for its grand, exotic d\u00e9cor and has been previously described as one of the most beautiful restaurants in the city.<\/p>\n

The restaurant\u2019s<\/a> listed building is set in the 19th Century Liberal Reform Club\u2019s original dining room. The building was built in 1871 and received a grand opening from then prime minister William Gladstone and went on to become a hotspot for politicians, bankers and lawyers to discuss important matters.<\/p>\n

The building is also where Winston Churchill gave his rousing election victory speech in 1906 from its grand Venetian Gothic balcony, after winning the constituency as a Liberal candidate.<\/p>\n

Now, the building hosts a number of venues including Black Cat Club and the House of Books and Friends, which was shortlisted for the Independent Bookshop of the Year award last year.<\/a><\/p>\n

The historic venue has also hosted Grand Pacific since it first opened in March 2017<\/a>. Run by Living Ventures, the colonial-style bar and restaurant has boasted a fit-out inspired by the grand hotels of south east Asia with a pan-Asian menu, featuring sushi bowls, noodles, salads and curries, as well as Sunday roasts, high teas and extravagant cocktails.<\/p>\n

But eight years after opening, owners say it\u2019s now the right time for a revamp. Reimagined with a new dining concept, the venue will now focus on its roots – bringing a modern sophistication with nods to British heritage.<\/p>\n

The bar and restaurant will be \u2018reborn as a modern dining room\u2019 that will celebrate British gastronomy through \u2018nostalgic and elevated classics\u2019, with a menu focused on locally-sourced ingredients, technique and precision.<\/p>\n

Some early teased menu highlights will include Confit Duck leg Bon Bons, featuring black garlic and burnt blood orange aioli, and an indulgent Grand Pacific Scotch Egg with bacon jam and celeriac remoulade.<\/p>\n

There will also be hand-chopped steak tartare, Jersey \u2018Rockafella\u2019 Oysters, charred Calabrian prawns, Cornish lemon sole, a grilled lobster thermidor and a Lakeland lamb Proven\u00e7al with seasonal vegetables.<\/p>\n

For desserts, the menu will also include a show-stopping Manchester Trifle, which will feature Vimto jelly, and a flamb\u00e9ed Cr\u00eape Suzette which will be served tableside.<\/p>\n

In addition, there will be an elevation of Grand Pacific\u2019s signature high tea and a \u2018refined\u2019 take on the Sunday roast with the likes of dry-aged sirloin and free-range porchetta. To pair with the food on offer, there will also be a new wine list made up of old and new world favourites.<\/p>\n

The restaurant is set to officially reopen on September 8, and to mark the grand revamp, diners will be able to enjoy 50% off food on the A La Carte menu, between September 8 and 20. When booking online, guests just need to add the code GRAND50 to take advantage of the offer.<\/p>\n
