{"id":322417,"date":"2025-08-06T11:53:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T11:53:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/322417\/"},"modified":"2025-08-06T11:53:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T11:53:11","slug":"naomi-osaka-posts-message-after-reaching-canadian-open-semifinals-and-reacts-to-being-seeded-for-the-us-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/322417\/","title":{"rendered":"Naomi Osaka posts message after reaching Canadian Open semifinals and reacts to being seeded for the US Open"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Naomi Osaka is enjoying a welcome return to form at the Canadian Open.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Japanese player has struggled throughout the season and she had lost her last six <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/wta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WTA Tour<\/a>-level three-set matches before arriving in Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>That changed when she rallied from a set and a break down to claim a 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 victory against Liudmila Samsonova in the second round of the <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/canadian-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canadian Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since then Osaka has been flying and she is now into just her second semi-final of the season, and two wins away from her first title since 2021.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"731\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2227994073-1024x731.jpg\" alt=\"Naomi Osaka celebrates her victory over Elina Svitolina at the 2025 WTA 1000 National Bank Open presented by Rogers\" class=\"wp-image-317350\" \/>Photo by Minas Panagiotakis\/Getty ImagesNaomi Osaka is delighted to be seeded for the US Open<\/p>\n<p>Since <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/naomi-osaka\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Naomi Osaka<\/a>\u2018s three-set victory against Samsonova in Montreal, she has not dropped a set.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the 27-year-old has lost more than two games in a set just once, and she has defeated the likes of former <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/french-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">French Open<\/a> champion and Olympic bronze medallist Elina Svitolina.<\/p>\n<p>Osaka\u2019s run to the semi-finals in Montreal means she will now re-enter the top 30 for the first time since January 2022.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DM_zBQouAGm\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:500px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\"\/>\n<p>Furthermore, she is now likely to be seeded for the <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/us-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">US Open<\/a>, something she has not experienced at a Grand Slam since the 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/australian-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Australian Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the news, Osaka wrote on Instagram: \u201cYour girl is gonna be seeded again at slams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUS Open being the first one honestly makes sense and is kinda full circle haha. Montr\u00e9al I love you, tonight was fun- see you again tomorrow!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2192462448-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Naomi Osaka walks behind Clara Tauson who is standing with the 2025 ASB Classic trophy\" class=\"wp-image-317351\" \/>Photo by Hannah Peters\/Getty ImagesNaomi Osaka says what she thinks of Clara Tauson ahead of their Canadian Open semi-final<\/p>\n<p>Osaka will face Denmark\u2019s Clara Tauson for a spot in the Canadian Open final.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament\u2019s 16th seed is also playing great tennis and she clinched back-to-back wins against <a href=\"https:\/\/tennishead.net\/tag\/iga-swiatek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Iga Swiatek<\/a> and Madison Keys to reach the last four in Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>Tauson has yet to drop a set and this will be the first time she faces Osaka since January\u2019s ASB Classic final, when injury forced the former world number one to retire from the match after winning the first set.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead to her next match, Osaka said: \u201cI think for me, I\u2019m just having a lot of fun playing and I\u2019m really glad to be here.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s [Tauson] really tough. I played her in Auckland this year and I had to stop halfway because I was injured.
