{"id":323102,"date":"2025-08-06T17:51:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T17:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/323102\/"},"modified":"2025-08-06T17:51:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T17:51:10","slug":"florida-breds-g-ws-girl-decadent-fede-set-for-competitive-tyson-gilpin-stakes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/323102\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida-breds G W\u2019s Girl, Decadent, Fede Set for Competitive Tyson Gilpin Stakes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>BY BROCK SHERIDAN<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftboa.com\/entries-results#searchby=horse&amp;search=g%20w&#039;s%20girl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">G W\u2019s Girl<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftboa.com\/entries-results#searchby=horse&amp;search=decadent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Decadent<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftboa.com\/entries-results#searchby=horse&amp;search=fede\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fede<\/a> make up a strong contingent of Florida-breds in an even-matched field of 11 sophomore fillies entered for Saturday\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equibase.com\/static\/entry\/CNL080925USA-EQB.html#RACE6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$100,000 Tyson Gilpin<\/a> going seven furlongs at Colonial Downs. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftboa.com\/entries-results#searchby=owner&amp;search=mag%20racing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mag Racing LLC\u2019s<\/a> G W\u2019s Girl, a multiple stakes winner at Oaklawn Park during the winter, is the 9-2 second choice in the program while Decadent, who is undefeated in two starts for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftboa.com\/entries-results#searchby=owner&amp;search=magdalena%20racing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Magdalena Racing<\/a>, is 5-1 in the program. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftboa.com\/entries-results#searchby=owner&amp;search=screnci\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stephen Screnci\u2019s<\/a> stakes-placed homebred Fede is 10-1 on the morning line.<\/p>\n<p>A winner of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftboa.com\/florida-bred-g-ws-girl-takes-mockingbird-for-first-career-stakes-win\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$150,000 Mockingbird<\/a> in January and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftboa.com\/second-straight-oaklawn-stakes-for-g-ws-girl-in-dixie-belle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$150,000 Dixie Belle<\/a> on Feb. 24, both at Oaklawn Park, G W\u2019s Girl looks to return to that winning form coming off fourth-place finishes against graded stakes company in her last two starts. The chestnut daughter of Munnings was unable to make the top three in the Grade 2 Beaumont won by Verity over a sloppy seven furlongs at Keeneland on April 6 then again finished fourth in the Grade 3 Miss Preakness won by Echo Sound going six furlongs at Pimlico on May 16.<\/p>\n<p>\ufeff<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>G W\u2019s Girl is trained by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equibase.com\/profiles\/Results.cfm?type=People&amp;searchType=T&amp;eID=249290&amp;rbt=TB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greg Compton<\/a> and has won half of her six career races with earnings of $219,975. She is out of Essence of Audra, by Exchange Rate and was bred in Florida by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftboa.com\/entries-results#searchby=breeder&amp;search=larry%20alan%20wynn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Larry Alan Wynn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Greg Massenelli of El Dorado, Ark., and Margaret Molleston of Houston make up Mag Racing and they purchased G W\u2019s Girl for $130,000 out of the Triple J Equine Sales consignment at the <a href=\"https:\/\/obssales.com\/catalog\/#\/135\/hip\/211?refUrl=results&amp;gallery=video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2024 Ocala Breeders\u2019 Sales March Sale<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Compton has giving the riding assignment <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equibase.com\/profiles\/Results.cfm?type=People&amp;searchType=J&amp;eID=138976&amp;rbt=TB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jaime Rodriguez<\/a> for the first time and they will depart from the inside post one.<\/p>\n<p>Trainer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equibase.com\/profiles\/Results.cfm?type=People&amp;searchType=T&amp;eID=1226&amp;rbt=TB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kenneth McPeek<\/a> is hoping Decadent will keep her unblemished record in place as she makes her first start since March 1 when she was a three-length winner of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equibase.com\/premium\/chartEmb.cfm?track=OP&amp;raceDate=03\/01\/2025&amp;cy=USA&amp;rn=7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first condition, $100,000 optional claiming<\/a> going a mile-and-a-sixteenth at Oaklawn. In her introduction, the bay daughter of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftboa.com\/stallion-launchpad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Girvin<\/a> won a seven-furlong <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equibase.com\/premium\/chartEmb.cfm?track=GP&amp;raceDate=12\/29\/2024&amp;cy=USA&amp;rn=6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">maiden special weight<\/a> in the slop at Gulfstream Park on Dec. 29.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Decadent is out of One More Minute, by Istan and was bred in Florida by the late <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftboa.com\/entries-results#searchby=breeder&amp;search=brereton%20c.%20jones\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brereton C. Jones<\/a>. An earner of $123,000 in her two starts, Decadent was a $100,000 purchase by McPeek as an agent out of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Select Yearling Sale in July of 2023 where she was consigned by Airdrie.<\/p>\n<p>She will be ridden by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equibase.com\/profiles\/Results.cfm?type=People&amp;searchType=J&amp;eID=109036&amp;rbt=TB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brian Hernandez Jr.<\/a> from post nine.<\/p>\n<p>Starting to the immediate right of Decadent in post 10 is Fede for trainer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equibase.com\/profiles\/Results.cfm?type=People&amp;searchType=T&amp;eID=946343&amp;rbt=TB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Armando De La Cerda<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fede has won two of six races this year including a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.equibase.com\/premium\/chartEmb.cfm?track=GP&amp;raceDate=05\/23\/2025&amp;cy=USA&amp;rn=8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first condition, $75,000 optional claiming<\/a> going a mile at Gulfstream two starts back on May 23. She exits a third-place finishing after setting the pace in the seven-furlong Azalea won by Andrea with Gilpin-rival Nerazurri second at Gulfstream on July 12.
