{"id":323106,"date":"2025-08-06T17:53:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T17:53:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/323106\/"},"modified":"2025-08-06T17:53:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T17:53:12","slug":"naomi-osaka-discloses-what-shes-really-been-working-on-in-training-recently-after-reaching-the-canadian-open-semifinal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/323106\/","title":{"rendered":"Naomi Osaka discloses what she&#8217;s really been working on in training recently after reaching the Canadian Open semifinal"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Naomi Osaka is thrilled to be back playing at a high level after she reached the Canadian Open semifinals.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Japanese player has reached the last four at a WTA 1000 tournament for the first time since the 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/miami-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Miami Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She reached the semifinals in Toronto for the loss of just one set, which came in the second round where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/opinion\/naomi-osaka-already-makes-promising-start-to-solving-problem-which-plagued-her-time-with-patrick-mouratoglou\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Osaka saved two match points to beat Liudmila Samsonova<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 27-year-old has been flying ever since and now she has a chance to earn a spot in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/canadian-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canadian Open<\/a> final for the first time.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2227993730-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Naomi Osaka celebrates beating Elian Svitolina the 2025 WTA 1000 National Bank Open presented by Rogers\" class=\"wp-image-118079\" \/>Photo by Minas Panagiotakis\/Getty ImagesNaomi Osaka is happier with herself which is helping her win more matches<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/naomi-osaka\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Naomi Osaka<\/a> made a bright start to the 2025 season as she reached the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/asb-classic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ASB Classic<\/a> final.<\/p>\n<p>But an unfortunate injury meant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/naomi-osaka-issues-apology-after-losing-the-final-in-the-asb-classic-against-clara-tauson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Osaka retired from the Auckland final<\/a> after winning the first set, and injury also meant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/belinda-bencic-says-when-she-realised-something-was-not-right-with-naomi-osaka-during-their-australian-open-match\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Osaka retired from the Australian Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since regaining full fitness, she has lost multiple three-set matches, including her last six at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WTA Tour<\/a> level before beating Samsonova in Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>Now Osaka is showing some of the form that helped her win four Grand Slam titles, and she thinks the positive feelings she has rediscovered is a significant factor in her improved form.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, she disclosed what she has worked on training that helped <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/naomi-osaka-praised-for-doing-something-which-is-just-like-roger-federer-as-she-wins-again-in-canada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Osaka defeat Elina Svitolina<\/a> to advance to the Canadian Open semi-finals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, definitely, which it kind of sucks that, like, I\u2019m happier when I win, but that\u2019s kind of the reality of an athlete,\u201d Osaka said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I also wonder if I\u2019m winning because I\u2019m happier. I don\u2019t know. It\u2019s tough to think about, but yeah, I feel a lot more at peace with myself and what I want to do in this part of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added: \u201cMy fitness, which I think helped me a lot against Elina today, because I know she\u2019s one of the best movers and also, like, she gets the ball back a lot. I felt like she would have to push me off the court if she wanted to win. Yeah, that went fairly well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2193967799-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Naomi Osaka celebrates beating Karolina Muchova at the 2025 Australian Open\" class=\"wp-image-61102\" \/>Photo by Hannah Peters\/Getty ImagesNaomi Osaka says she last felt good about her game at the Australian Open<\/p>\n<p>Other than the title <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/naomi-osaka-reveals-the-reason-she-came-back-to-tennis-following-title-victory-in-saint-malo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Osaka won at 125k level in Saint-Malo<\/a> in May, there were seven months between the two semifinals she reached at WTA Tour level.<\/p>\n<p>These two periods of the year mark the best tennis the former world number one has played so far this season.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, it comes as no surprise that before the Canadian Open, Osaka says she last felt good about her tennis when she competed at Melbourne Park in January.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike truly at peace or confident with myself, maybe Australian Open. I don\u2019t know,\u201d the four-time Grand Slam winner said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think there are tournaments that I go in there knowing, like, I practiced something, and I\u2019m fully confident in that, and I feel that way a little now.
