{"id":323186,"date":"2025-08-06T18:35:24","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T18:35:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/323186\/"},"modified":"2025-08-06T18:35:24","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T18:35:24","slug":"nicola-sturgeon-shows-off-first-ever-tattoo-during-appearance-at-edinburgh-fringe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/323186\/","title":{"rendered":"Nicola Sturgeon shows off first-ever tattoo during appearance at Edinburgh Fringe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Nicola Sturgeon has shared her first-ever tattoo during a guest appearance at an Edinburgh Fringe show.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The former first minister guest-starred at the Women of the World (WOW) Show on George Street on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the event, the 54-year-old showed her new ink to the audience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere\u2019s an ambition I\u2019ve always had that I\u2019ve fulfilled recently,\u201d Sturgeon said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got a tattoo. When I phoned my mother to tell her, she thought I was kidding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sturgeon described the wrist tattoo as an infinity symbol with an arrow on the end.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a symbol of strength,\u201d she added. \u201cIt means something to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former SNP leader also said she was planning to write a fiction novel after her retirement from politics next year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still have lots of ambition to go out and do different things.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy biggest ambition now is to see if I\u2019ve got, and I don\u2019t know whether I do, the ability to write a novel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although Sturgeon said her novel \u201cmay never see the light of day\u201d, she said it would likely be some kind of political thriller.<\/p>\n<p>She joked: \u201cThe problem is there are too many people I\u2019d want to kill. There\u2019d be a murder on every second page.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What was the show?<\/p>\n<p>WOW founder and theatre director Jude Kelly hosted The WOW Show to share personal anecdotes and discuss women, gender, and inequality in the UK and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Sturgeon shared that, as a woman in power, she was often asked in interviews when she was going to have children \u2013 or why she did not have them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy predecessor was a man, he didn\u2019t have children, but to the best of my knowledge, he was never, ever asked those questions in an interview,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/8ec47d234b38f61e8ec122fa19b36e42-1754499623.jpg\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1440\"   alt=\"Nicola Sturgeon appeared at a Fringe show on Edinburgh's George Street on Wednesday.\"\/>STV NewsNicola Sturgeon appeared at a Fringe show on Edinburgh\u2019s George Street on Wednesday.
