Italy-based travel management company BizAway has joined Spain\u2019s Guild of European Business Travel Agents (GEBTA)\u00a0as the TMC looks to expand its presence in the country.<\/p>\n
BizAway already has offices in the Spanish cities of Barcelona and Vigo and is currently the 15th largest TMC in Spain<\/a>, according to BTN Europe\u2019s Leading TMCs 2025 report<\/a>. In April, the company also acquired Spanish TMC Aervio<\/a> to boost its tech capabilities.<\/p>\n “Spain is\u00a0BizAway’s second market in terms of booking volume, and remains a strategic country in our expansion plan,\u201d said the company\u2019s head of sales Giovanni Bernadi.<\/p>\n \u201cGEBTA has always been an institution, thanks to its deep understanding of the corporate travel market in the region… For this reason, we are proud to join this organisation and keep consolidating our presence in this region,” he said.<\/p>\n GEBTA director general Marcel Forns Bernhardt said the inclusion of BizAway is \u201ca strategic step\u201d for both the association and the company, noting that Spain’s economy currently shows \u201cstronger indicators and greater dynamism\u201d compared to neighbouring markets.<\/p>\n According to data from the\u00a0GEBTA Observatory, overall business travel volumes in Spain experienced a \u201cmodest\u201d 1.3 per cent year-on-year increase in the first quarter, largely driven by the SME segment, which recorded a 3.5 per cent rise in bookings compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n Forns Bernhardt said Spanish SMEs \u201cremain very active\u201d, particularly within the domestic market.
