Manchester United are closing in on the signing of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko as Ruben Amorim targets a new goalscorer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo joined United<\/a> earlier this summer, but Ruben Amorim<\/a> wants even more attacking firepower.<\/p>\n

United are now closing in on Benjamin Sesko<\/a>, having moved ahead of Newcastle United in the race for the RB Leipzig forward.<\/p>\n

Christopher Vivell is a huge fan of Sesko<\/a> and previously helped secure his signature for Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig.<\/p>\n

United now appear to be on the verge of signing Sesko, with his potential \u00a374million move in line to set a new Premier League record.<\/p>\n

We haven\u2019t seen any Slovenian players pass through the Premier League over the years.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing, only six Slovenian players have played Premier League football.<\/p>\n

Ales Krizan was the first at Barnsley in 1997, before Milenko Acimovic joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2002.<\/p>\n

Aleksander Rodic, Robert Koren, Haris Vuckic and Jon Gorenc Stankovic followed, with Sesko set to become the latest.<\/p>\n

Another Slovenian has arrived in the Premier League this summer, though, with Leeds United snapping up defender Jaka Bijol (pictured alongside Sesko, above).<\/p>\n

Bijol joined Leeds from Italian side Udinese in a \u00a315million move back in June, as noted by BBC Sport<\/a>, becoming the most expensive Slovenian player in Premier League history.<\/p>\n

The defender impressed at Euro 2024 last summer and has caught the eye with strong defensive displays in Italy.<\/p>\n

That record has only been in place for six weeks, but United are now set to blow it out of the water with a deal for Sesko.<\/p>\n

Sesko\u2019s move to Old Trafford could eventually reach five times the value of Bijol\u2019s transfer, setting a new record for a Slovenian player in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

That record may never be broken, with United ready to pay huge money for one of the biggest talents to ever emerge from Slovenia.<\/p>\n

When would Sesko face Jaka Bijol?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Leeds securing a return to the Premier League means the rivalry with United will resume this season.<\/p>\n

When United\u2019s fixture list<\/a> emerged in June, the two clashes with Leeds were likely circled by many Red Devils fans.<\/p>\n

United recently drew 0-0 with Leeds in a pre-season friendly, but the first Premier League meeting between the two sides this season will come on January 3, 2026.<\/p>\n

Amorim\u2019s side kick off 2026 with a trip to Elland Road, before Leeds visit Old Trafford on April 11.<\/p>\n
