Stepping out at a book signing event for her 2021 novel, Her Heart for a Compass, the Duchess sported shoes that quite simply said it all: &#8220;Never complain, never explain.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_6-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> The velvet loafers have long been a part of Ferguson&#8217;s wardrobe. She last wore them in 2022, per <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/royals\/sarah-ferguson-shoes-sends-message-royal-family-motto\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">People<\/a>. Royal biographer Penny Junor explained the significance of the embroidered message in a prior interview with the publication.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_8-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> &#8220;There has been a long tradition in the British royal family of riding criticism out and keeping your head down and taking the long view,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Crises come and go, and people get criticized\u2014often for five minutes by the media, who then move on.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_12-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> As for those infidelity rumors? The Duchess and her ex-husband are back in the spotlight thanks to historian Andrew Lownie&#8217;s upcoming book,\u00a0Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, which drops on August 14. King Charles has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instyle.com\/prince-andrew-refusing-leave-royal-lodge-8740101\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">attempted to evict his brother<\/a> following his fall from grace but has so far been unsuccessful.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_20-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> &#8220;What I think he feels is that if he moves out of Royal Lodge it&#8217;s somehow publicly accepting guilt for which he has not been proved,&#8221; royal expert Hugo Vickers told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/royals\/12817365\/prince-andrew-charles-house-royal-expert\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Sun<\/a>, referring to his alleged link with Jeffrey Epstein.
