The deployment at the Minsk Mazowiecki military airfield will last for nearly a month and involve around 150 German soldiers on-site. Once again, Germany is being invited to defend Eastern Europe against Russia.

The deployment was requested by Poland ahead of the large-scale military exercises between Russia and Belarus expected to take place in mid-September. “This deployment is a clear sign of alliance solidarity within [the North Atlantic Treaty Organization] and serves as a credible deterrent and the protection of shared airspace,” a German Air Force spokesperson told Bild.

Germany has previously helped the Polish Army monitor its airspace, but this is the first time the planes are being deployed from Polish soil.

Immediately after Russia’s war on Ukraine began in February 2022, German Eurofighters circled over Romania and Poland. Mateusz Morawiecki, Polish prime minister at the time, stated: “The next target [of Russia] could be the Baltic states, Poland, Finland or other countries on the eastern flank.”

This fear of Russia is opening the door for German military expansion.

Earlier this year, Germany established a permanent foreign military base in Lithuania, as Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry highlighted in his article “Lithuania in Prophecy.”

At the end of July, Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil visited Lithuania and emphasized that the Baltic countries can rely on Germany. During a meeting with the Lithuanian defense minister, he discussed Germany’s permanent foreign military base and the expansion of industrial cooperation, including joint projects with German defense firms Rheinmetall and knds. Following the visit, the German Federal Ministry of Finance wrote:

The German government is pressing forward with the Bundeswehr’s first permanent deployment of troops abroad. In so doing, it is sending the clear message that borders cannot be altered by force. Anyone who attacks other countries in violation of international law and threatens them with military force will be met with the full strength and solidarity of the nato alliance.

By committing to a massive increase in defense spending, the German government is ensuring that the new brigade will be deployed successfully. Germany is investing in the defense of the alliance and in Europe’s joint security.

Germany, the largest military spender on the Continent, is taking smaller nations under its protective umbrella.

In October 2022, Germany launched the European Sky Shield Initiative, which includes over 20 European countries developing a joint missile defense system. In June 2023, Germany hosted and led “Air Defender 23,” the largest air force exercise in nato history. Just days after Finland joined nato on April 4, 2024, it was included in a joint military exercise involving Finnish, Portuguese and German forces.

Some Western European nations are also trusting Germany with their defense. The last Dutch combat brigade joined a division of the Bundeswehr on March 30, 2023.

In the March 1950 Plain Truth, Mr. Armstrong stated that “the nations of Europe, directly in the very shadow of the great Russian bear, are becoming disturbed, distrustful of America, and thinking more and more about uniting themselves into a united states of Europe.”

They are now uniting under German military leadership.

Mr. Armstrong asked on Aug. 27, 1980, while Poland was still behind the Iron Curtain:

Will Poland free itself from Soviet domination and join with Yugoslavia, Romania and possibly Czechoslovakia—and with Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal and Austria—in a resurrected medieval “Holy Roman Empire” to dominate Europe and equal the ussr and the U.S.A. in world power?

This empire is now rising before our eyes, as prophesied in Daniel 2 and Revelation 17. “And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
