It follows on from their debut album <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/reviews-wolf-alice-16126-313923\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018My Love Is Cool\u2019<\/a>, Mercury Prize-winning sophomore release\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/wolf-alice-visions-life-review-2145110\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018Visions Of A Life\u2019<\/a>\u00a0and 2022\u2019s cinematic\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/album\/wolf-alice-blue-weekend-review-2951468\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018Blue Weekend\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They have already shared the singles \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/track\/wolf-alice-bloom-baby-bloom-review-the-clearing-3862693\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloom Baby Bloom<\/a>\u2019 and \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/listen-to-wolf-alices-contemplative-new-single-the-sofa-3877553\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Sofa<\/a>\u2019, and now they are back with \u2018White Horses\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Featuring drummer Joel Amey sharing rapid fire lead vocals with Ellie Rowsell, it is based around a hypnotic acoustic guitar riff that propels the psych-flavoured track like a driving synth line. Watch the video here:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Amey has said: \u201cI was inspired by what songs we had already that were becoming \u2018The Clearing\u2019; the sonic shapes we were creating, the big acoustics, the harmonies, but I wanted to underpin it with a driving krautrock beat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the inspiration for the song, he added: \u201cI was on this big adventure with my best mates, never feeling the need to call one place home, living out a suitcase, all the stuff that comes with being in a band. I felt that the answers to \u2018who I am and where do I come from?\u2019 didn\u2019t matter so much; I\u2019d chosen my family and they were the people around me. \u2018White Horses\u2019 was me trying to put all that into a tune, and Ellie, Joff and Theo helped me all along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/track\/wolf-alice-bloom-baby-bloom-review-the-clearing-3862693\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NME\u00a0reviewed\u00a0\u2018Bloom Baby Bloom\u2019, awarding it five stars and writing<\/a>: \u201cAfter three albums of building and expanding their world, and experiencing the ups and downs of the music industry, it feels like the band are ready to stake their claim as one of their generation\u2019s most important acts. I think we were buoyed by the songier songs being things that people really connected to and we spent a lot more time working on those constituency, songy song parts of the songs,\u201d Joff Oddie said. \u201cIt\u2019s the hardest thing in the world to write a really concise song in a \u2013 I don\u2019t wanna say pop structure, but you know what I mean.
