Gerhard Struber has explained that Bristol City<\/a> are keen to progress in both the Carabao and FA Cup<\/a> this season, but the head coach recognises that he will require a \u201cbig roster\u201d with a variety of players to be able to compete on all fronts over the coming months.<\/p>\n The Reds have so far added four new faces to their ranks this summer with Adam Randell, Joe Lumley, Emil Riis, and Radek Vitek<\/a> trading Plymouth Argyle, Southampton, Preston North End, and Manchester United – albeit only on loan – for Ashton Gate respectively.<\/p>\n As of the time of writing, the only major departures have seen Nahki Wells leave BS3 for Luton Town<\/a> and Marcus McGuane make the permanent switch to Huddersfield Town.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Joe Williams, Max Bird, Cam Pring – Bristol City injury news ahead of Sheffield United opener<\/a>READ MORE: Gerhard Struber interview notebook: Bristol City transfers, board goals and Hasenh\u00fcttl’s advice<\/a><\/p>\n With a little under a month to go until the September 1 transfer deadline, City\u2019s squad remains on the larger side, as demonstrated by the number of players utilised over the course of pre-season. Prior to Vitek\u2019s arrival, the Reds boss was able to deploy two separate teams against Cheltenham Town<\/a> and Plymouth Argyle in the space of less than 24 hours, albeit with several youth players involved.<\/p>\n There is, of course, still plenty of time for further movement in and out of Ashton Gate before the window closes, and Struber has made no secret of his willingness to add another player or two<\/a>. However, it would come as a surprise to the head coach if anything were to happen before Saturday\u2019s season opener against Sheffield United.<\/p>\n “Nope, not that I know,\u201d Struber told Bristol Live<\/a> when asked if anything had changed in terms of incoming or outgoing business since his ‘Sound of the City<\/a>‘ interview on Monday. \u201cBut we have the ears and eyes open, and the market is interesting.<\/p>\n \u201cThe market, I would say right now, is of a good dynamic and we will see what goes on in the next few days and few weeks. We are ready for more, and we hope we can realise the one or another new player.\u201d<\/p>\n As a result of their transfer business so far this summer, the Reds appear to be well stocked in the majority of positions. Also, in the Carabo Cup and the FA Cup, we want to not jump out in the first round. This means also that we will have more and more games, and in this direction, we need of course, a big roster.<\/p>\n \u201cWe also need, of course, some different players in the roster, and then, I think, we are ready.
