Kelly Clarkson<\/a> is taking a pause from the spotlight to focus on her family during a difficult time. <\/p>\n The American Idol champion, 43,\u00a0announced in February<\/a>\u00a0that she would be taking up a residency at\u00a0The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, following in the footsteps of\u00a0Celine Dion<\/a>,\u00a0Adele<\/a>,\u00a0Madonna<\/a>, and\u00a0Sir Elton John<\/a>.<\/p>\n But the Grammy-winning<\/a> singer and talk show host has now announced that she is postponing the August dates of her Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. <\/p>\n The move, she said in a social media<\/a> post, is due to health issues her ex-husband is experiencing.<\/p>\n \u2018While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children\u2019s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,\u2019 Clarkson wrote. \u2018I appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.\u2019<\/p>\n The postponed shows were scheduled for August 8-9 and 15-16.Clarkson\u2019s residency is expected to resume in November, with performances set for the 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th. <\/p>\n \t\t \t\t According to Caesars Palace, fans with tickets to the postponed shows can hold onto them for newly announced 2026 dates or request a refund within 30 days.<\/p>\n This isn\u2019t the first disruption in Clarkson\u2019s schedule this year. Earlier in 2025, she missed ten episodes of The Kelly Clarkson Show <\/a>without explanation, prompting speculation about the cause of her absence. <\/p>\n Additionally, at the beginning of July, she cancelled a Vegas show<\/a> just 90 minutes before she was due to take to the stage.<\/p>\n She began in a statement to her Instagram followers: \u2018We have been working 24\/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans.<\/p>\n \u2018I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow\u2019s opening at Caesars.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t \u2018The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y\u2019all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.\u2019<\/p>\n Now, her newest statement suggests that behind the scenes, she\u2019s been navigating more than just a packed schedule.<\/p>\n Clarkson shares two children \u2013 daughter River Rose and son Remington Alexander \u2013 with ex Brandon Blackstock.<\/a><\/p>\n The pair married in 2013 and separated in 2020, with their divorce finalized in 2022 after a protracted legal battle<\/a>.<\/p>\n While Clarkson has largely kept the details of her family life private, glimpses into her post-divorce reality have surfaced in recent interviews.<\/p>\n In a January 2024 conversation with People<\/a>, Clarkson described the split as \u2018extraordinarily hard.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018You feel alone,\u2019 she said, \u2018and it\u2019s just a blessing to be able to have that outlet for those emotions that are overwhelming,\u2019 referencing her confessional album Chemistry, which explores heartbreak.<\/p>\n \t\t On a March 2025 episode of Kylie Kelce\u2019s Not Gonna Lie podcast, Clarkson opened up further about the emotional toll of co-parenting, revealing how her children seem to give more leeway to their father when he\u2019s absent.<\/p>\n \u2018Even from a young age, we didn\u2019t teach them, just innately you\u2019re like . . . he\u2019s allowed to be somewhere, but you\u2019re not?\u2019 she said. \u2018That is like real interesting.\u2019<\/p>\n She added, with a touch of sarcasm: \u2018Co-parenting is fun! It\u2019s like, \u201cOh, he couldn\u2019t come cause of this.\u201d I\u2019m like, \u201cOK, cool. What! Do you think I just leave and just sit in the park all day?\u201d\u2018<\/p>\n Clarkson\u2019s divorce from Blackstock, who once served as her manager, was complex. In March 2023, she was awarded $2.6million in a dispute over improper commissions paid to Blackstock, after a California ruling found that he had secured deals that should have gone through her licensed talent agents at CAA. <\/p>\n Though both parties reached a confidential settlement in May 2024, the saga had dragged on for years.<\/p>\n For now, though, Clarkson is putting her role as a mother ahead of her on-stage duties.
