in part of east Belfast will begin later this month, with a number of road closures in place across August and September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"beltel-ebe0ecc6_root beltel-ebe0ecc6_paragraph beltel-300db776_none beltel-91174671_primary beltel-1d70522a_marginbottom5 beltel-1d70522a_margintop0 beltel-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">The Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins confirmed the details of the project in the Short Strand area of the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"beltel-ebe0ecc6_root beltel-ebe0ecc6_paragraph beltel-300db776_none beltel-91174671_primary beltel-1d70522a_marginbottom5 beltel-1d70522a_margintop0 beltel-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">The \u00a3663k scheme will begin on Friday August 22 and involve carriageway resurfacing between the Albertbridge Road and Bridge End and a section of the A23 Mountpottinger Road past the Translink Bus Station.<\/p>\n<p class=\"beltel-ebe0ecc6_root beltel-ebe0ecc6_paragraph beltel-300db776_none beltel-91174671_primary beltel-1d70522a_marginbottom5 beltel-1d70522a_margintop0 beltel-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">The Sinn Fein minister said it represents a \u201csignificant investment\u201d for the Short Strand area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"beltel-ebe0ecc6_root beltel-ebe0ecc6_paragraph beltel-300db776_none beltel-91174671_primary beltel-1d70522a_marginbottom5 beltel-1d70522a_margintop0 beltel-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">&#8220;Once completed, the resurfacing will improve the structural condition of the road and enhance safety for all who travel through this busy area of east Belfast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"beltel-ebe0ecc6_root beltel-ebe0ecc6_paragraph beltel-300db776_none beltel-91174671_primary beltel-1d70522a_marginbottom5 beltel-1d70522a_margintop0 beltel-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">&#8220;I would like to thank road users and the local community in advance for their patience and understanding while these essential works are carried out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"beltel-ebe0ecc6_root beltel-ebe0ecc6_paragraph beltel-300db776_none beltel-91174671_primary beltel-1d70522a_marginbottom5 beltel-1d70522a_margintop0 beltel-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">As part of the works there will be weekend road closures in the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"beltel-ebe0ecc6_root beltel-ebe0ecc6_paragraph beltel-300db776_none beltel-91174671_primary beltel-1d70522a_marginbottom5 beltel-1d70522a_margintop0 beltel-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">The department said Short Strand will be fully closed:<\/p>\n<ul data-testid=\"content-list\" class=\"beltel-3ee38419_root beltel-3ee38419_bullet beltel-1d70522a_marginbottom5 beltel-a58b1f03_root\">\n<li class=\"beltel-3ee38419_listitemroot\">From 8pm on Friday 22 August until 6am on Monday 25 August<\/li>\n<li class=\"beltel-3ee38419_listitemroot\">From 8pm on Friday 29 August until 6am on Monday 1 September<\/li>\n<li class=\"beltel-3ee38419_listitemroot\">From 8pm on Friday 12 September until 6am on Monday 15 September.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"beltel-ebe0ecc6_root beltel-ebe0ecc6_paragraph beltel-300db776_none beltel-91174671_primary beltel-1d70522a_marginbottom5 beltel-1d70522a_margintop0 beltel-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">A spokesperson said that during these closures, signed diversion routes will be in operation as follows:<\/p>\n<ul data-testid=\"content-list\" class=\"beltel-3ee38419_root beltel-3ee38419_bullet beltel-1d70522a_marginbottom5 beltel-a58b1f03_root\">\n<li class=\"beltel-3ee38419_listitemroot\">For traffic travelling from Albertbridge Road to Bridge End: via Albertbridge Road \u2013 Newtownards Road \u2013 Bridge End.<\/li>\n<li class=\"beltel-3ee38419_listitemroot\">For traffic travelling from Bridge End to Albertbridge Road: via Bridge End \u2013 Oxford Street \u2013 East Bridge Street \u2013 Albertbridge Road.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"beltel-ebe0ecc6_root beltel-ebe0ecc6_paragraph beltel-300db776_none beltel-91174671_primary beltel-1d70522a_marginbottom5 beltel-1d70522a_margintop0 beltel-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">\u201cThe Department for Infrastructure has programmed the works and associated traffic management to minimise disruption as much as possible,\u201d they added,<\/p>\n<p class=\"beltel-ebe0ecc6_root beltel-ebe0ecc6_paragraph beltel-300db776_none beltel-91174671_primary beltel-1d70522a_marginbottom5 beltel-1d70522a_margintop0 beltel-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">&#8220;Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journeys during these periods. Local access will be maintained via the diversion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"beltel-ebe0ecc6_root beltel-ebe0ecc6_paragraph beltel-300db776_none beltel-91174671_primary beltel-1d70522a_marginbottom5 beltel-1d70522a_margintop0 beltel-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">\u201cThe resurfacing programme is expected to be completed by mid-September 2025.
