A MANIAC cabbie launched a brazen broad daylight revenge hit<\/strong> outside a Glasgow court – mowing down a man who scammed him<\/strong> out of thousands.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Awet Teame, 32, was caught on his own dash-cam as he carried out the horror<\/a> hit-and-run on Bekezela Ncube on March 1 last year. <\/p>\n

The shock incident unfolded on the same day Mr Ncube was due to stand trial for\u00a0conning Teame out of nearly \u00a39,000 – but the furious driver took justice<\/a> into his own hands.<\/p>\n

The High Court<\/a> in Glasgow heard how the private hire driver lay in wait for Mr Ncube to turn up at the city’s<\/a> Sheriff Court on March 1, 2024. <\/p>\n

In graphic footage captured by his car<\/a>‘s camera, Teame sped towards the man, mounted the pavement, and sent him sprawling across the bonnet of his Mercedes<\/a> Citan.<\/p>\n

Mr Ncube fortunately escaped without any serious injury<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Teame, from Shettleston and originally from Eritrea,\u00a0initially fled the scene, but in a bizarre twist, returned to court hours later, calmly signed in as a witness,\u00a0shook hands with people, and even sat near police<\/a> officers before being arrested.<\/p>\n

The first time offender is now behind bars<\/a> after he pleaded guilty – via his lawyer Duncan McPhie – to an attempted murder<\/a> charge on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Teame is due to be sentenced next<\/a> month.<\/p>\n

The High Court in Glasgow heard how Mr Ncube had conned Teame out of \u00a38,721 of cash in late 2021.<\/p>\n

Mr Ncube was later charged with a number of frauds.<\/p>\n

A trial – previously postponed a number of times – was due to take place on the day of the crime<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Teame had been due to testify as a witness and drove to court that morning.<\/p>\n

He initially remained in his motor in nearby Carlton Place for around 40 minutes before driving<\/a> away and then returning shortly after.<\/p>\n

Mr Ncube was soon spotted heading towards the court building.<\/p>\n

Prosecutor Christopher Wilson then explained: \u201cTeame noticed him and began to rev the engine of his vehicle.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile Mr Ncube was midway across the road, Teame accelerated towards him.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr Ncube ran, but was struck on the left side of his body<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe collision<\/a> occurred while Mr Ncube was on the pavement. He was lifted up off his feet onto the bonnet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Footage of the incident from the dashcam<\/a> and a CCTV<\/a> camera was played in court yesterday, <\/p>\n

Mr Ncube was briefly knocked out after being hit.<\/p>\n

But, he managed to get back to his feet and run towards steps<\/a> leading to the court.<\/p>\n

Mr Wilson said: \u201cAt this point, Teame drove the vehicle forward and to the left in an attempt to strike<\/a> Mr Ncube as he went past.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe vehicle collided with the wall in front of it while Mr Ncube ran up the steps.\u201d<\/p>\n

Teame reversed and done a U-turn away from the scene. He damaged the wheel of his car as he carried out the manoeuvre.<\/p>\n

Mr Ncube meantime alerted police at the sheriff court what had happened.<\/p>\n

He was soon taken to hospital<\/a> and luckily only found to have suffered grazes to his hand as well as tenderness across his body.<\/p>\n

Teame later calmly returned to the Sheriff court and checked in to be a witness, even shaking hands with people and sitting next to police. <\/p>\n

But, it was at court, Teame was held by other officers following reports of the attack<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The hearing yesterday was told Mr Ncube was eventually convicted in January 2025\u00a0for a string of frauds, given\u00a0300 hours of unpaid work<\/a>, and ordered to\u00a0pay back cash\u00a0to the very man who tried to run him down.<\/p>\n

Advocate Mr McPhie did not ask for Teame\u2019s bail to be continued.<\/p>\n
